Hi, I was hoping for some help. I need to choose between these 2 for a dinner. It is my dh, dd (8) and myself.

My first questions are about Le Cellier. Do you feel closed in, because it is on the darker side with no windows? How about the space between the tables?

I have read great reviews on both and am really torn. I think we would like the atmosphere at Chefs de France better.

Thanks for your opinions.:)

We ate at both this past trip and I enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Chefs de France much more than Le Cellier. Frankly we were all a little disappointed in the food at Le Cellier this time around. The Cheddar cheese soup was excellent but my entree was not the best cut of meat for sure.
I rather enjoyed the natural light of Chefs and the meal was fantastic.

The last week of Oct. we ate at both places also and really enjoy both places. In Le Cellier depends where you sit but some places it is almost like being at someone elses table, the past trip we were talking to a group from Ohio just as if they were at our table (but it was fun this time), we had the mushroom filet me and DW and it was the best of the 4 times we have been there so tender (so I guess you could have a good cut or bad cut like PJAY its all luck) This was funny the other table was watching us eat the filet and we just said yummmm. They got the cheese soup so I was watching them and they enjoyed the soup. At Chefs de France ther is more room but the steaks IMO are not that good, DW always gets the steak and it isn't like Le Cellier, Kona, Coral Reef or even believe it or not San Angle had a great steak this trip. But at Chefs I always get sea food and enjoy that. Both places have great desserts.
This is a toss up we always book both places, but love the steak at Le Cellier and if we could only go one place we would go there even if we were sitting on someone elses lap that we didn't know.
When there Le Cellier was booked and not taking walkups Chef de Fr took at least 4 groups of walkups while we were waiting to get in, so that could be a reason Chefs is not as crowded.
Have a great trip where ever you choose.

I would choose Chefs de France.

LeCellie is nice, but it is nice because of the atmosphere of the dining room, which is really tight and dark. You can get better steak at other resturants elsewhere in the parks. For example, I like the strip at Kona better.

Chefs IMHO is a better choice because the dining room is bright and wide open, moreso if you are seated in the areas by the giant windows. I also feel that the food is better compared to LeCellier. I had a flilet there that was amazing. I feel that the service/show is better here also, my wife was all a giggly when our server started talking to her in french. I wanted to fight that guy... But anyway, it was a better then hearing some kid talking aboot his homeland. :rolleyes1

I would go with Le Cellier. I ate there a year ago, and really enjoyed it. Then I went to Les Chefs in September, and was completely unimpressed. The wait staff were not friendly at all--I would have loved the opportunity to practice my French, but really had no chance since the only interaction was when I was giving my order. The food wasn't anything to get excited about. The best part about it was that they sat me next to a window so I could people watch, but that was it.

I'm going to have to agree with my brother. I ate at Le Chefs last week, and found the service to be perfunctory at best.

I would go with Chefs, great atmosphere and excellent service every time we've been. 3 times we've been to le cellier and all 3 times our ADR time came and went and we were seated 45 min. - 1 hr late. I think the diversity of menu items is better at chefs as well.

I ate at both of these restaurants in Nov and the better meal for me was at Chefs De France.

At Le Cellier they first tried to seat us at one of those tables that share a booth on one side. The family at the other table was utilizing the entire booth right up to our table. We asked for something different and then they offered us a table for 2. This was much better although we were still seated extremely close to the tables next to us - close enough that they actually interupted our waiter to ask questions while he was trying to give us the details of the menu. My husband ordered the mushroom fillet and he loved it. I got the NY Strip and it was full of gristle. I only had a few bites that were edible. I didn't care for the dessert offerings here either.

At Chefs we had a lovely seat right next to the window. For atmosphere Chefs de France wins hands down. We both had the steak and it was tender and delicious. The desserts were better here too. As a bonus Remie dropped by for a visit.

As far as service goes it was fantastic at both places.

I ate at both in November & have already decided that I'm done with Le Cellier. We've eaten there almost every trip & I just don't see what the draw is anymore. I've never had great service or excellent food, just mediocre. Nov. was my 1st time eating at Chefs & it was excellent all around. Service & food!

I did, however, feel like both restaraunts were very tight quarters. I actually thought Chefs felt more closed in than Le Cellier but it all depends on where you sit I guess.

LE CELLIER for sure........Steak over french food anyday. Cheddar Cheese soup and Maple Creme Brulee ..... yummy

I was not impressed at all with Chefs France, and I didn't think the atmosphere was anything special.

LE CELLIER is better than Chefs France.......

I'm not a fan of LeC....I don't like the closeness of the tables and the "cellar" feel of the place; however, I really enjoy Chefs. It's so nice especially if you sit by the windows so you can watch the world go by. I've read several posters who complain about the lack of service at Chefs but two of my 3 visits to Chefs have been with hungry small children. The waitstaff couldn't have moved any faster to get the hungry beasts appeased. :flower3: Once, the waiter brought out a child's hamburger just a few minutes after we ordered so the little one could start eating. This last trip involved a 16 month old and one of the waitstaff (not our server) was quick to notice that the baby seemed hungry and brought a roll to his mother so he'd have something to munch. Both times their actions resulted in a more relaxed and enjoyable meal.

We've never done Chefs (I've read some really bad reviews for dinner, and that lunch is definitely better). We have now eaten at LeCellier five trips in a row and we have never had a bad meal or bad service. It has been the top meal of each of the last five trips.

As you can see, when you ask these kind of questions you are going to get a variety of answers that will leave you no closer to making a decision. Each restaurant has its strengths.

Le Cellier:
Pretzel bread, Mushroom Filet (although the risotto is too salty), cheddar cheese soup and Very Friendly Canadians (okay, I am a little biased).

Chefs:
Beautiful restaurant, great desserts and although the French will never be as friendly as Canadians, they can be quite nice if you engage them. Try speaking a bit of French as they appreciate your efforts.

I would say let Disney Dining make your decision. Try and book Le Cellier for the time and night you want and if you can't get it take Chefs. Either way you will have a great meal.

Ate at both last week and in the past. Last year I preferred Chefs this year Le Cellier. Had a great steak this year at both (Filet at Chefs, Coffee rubbed KC Strip at LC) but son and nieces steaks ordered medium at Chefs were way over cooked. I ordered Med Rare as I usually do at most restaurants hoping for Med which is what I got from Chefs. If was good. Asked our service person (Jennifer, she was GREAT!) at LC how medium would come out and based on her description ordered it and it was perfect! Preferred the berry soup dessert at LC over the creme brulee at Chefs. I would go back to either on our next trip but if I could only get one it would be Le Cellier.

We ate at Le'Cellier in Jan. 09, and while we liked the food I absolutely hated where we sat.

For those of you who know this place you'll agree when I tell you where they seated us. We were escorted all the way to the back corner of the restaurant. The table we had was between two server stations. The one was for credit cards, the other for silverware and etc. Next to our table was the walkway that led right to the frequently visited restroooms. It was non stop traffic, clanging of silverware and etc.

Sorry, like I said, the food was good, but the atmosphere or at least our table location was not.

We ate at both this last trip and were pleasantly surprised with Chefs de France. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. We liked Le Cellier but if you don't want to feel closed in I would suggest Le Chefs because it IS a little bit closed in at Le Cellier. We were seated in a corner and the tables are very close to one another. That being said, we loved our meal and the service there.

I have been to both.

We ate at Le Celliar and we had the first table when you walk in, and everyone walks past you. EVERYONE looked at our food, commented, people just walked in to look inside and they were looking at us.......I really just had to laugh. The food was very good. I was on the DDP and still managed to spend $70 extra....on what, I don't know....soup?

We ate at Chef De France. The waiter looked at myself and two young boys and sort of turned up his nose....kids again........Well, when my kids order the escargo, which they love from other French Restaurants, they seemed to know that they were "different".........:rotfl:

It was noisy at Chef's and we sat right next to other people, and I did see someone famous there dining.

I would pick which ever menu you like best.....when I go in Feb, I am doing both restaurants.......maybe my kids will order frog legs this time.......:rotfl: I'll really throw them off since it is not on the menu!

Sounds kind of like us...We skipped Le Cellier to try somewhere new this year. We tried Chefs, the waiter was plain RUDE. We couldn't even get him half the time. The food was NOT good. My DHs steak was OK, but I ordered a seafood plate, It was a mixture of Over and Under done. Terrible. I tried to say something, but the waiter brushed me off, apparently that is how the french do it! They like their seafood chewy, I guess. I ordered Sorbet for dessert, I think one was bad, it was soured. And, honestly, I felt more closed in at Chefs, they sat us in the back in a corner. It is beautiful, but I won't go back.

While I like the atmosphere at Chefs de France better than Le Cellier the food for dinner is horrible and Le Cellier is excellent.

For lunch I would pick Chefs de France, the quiche is amazing
