Does anyone know if you can get the toasted ham and cheese sandwich for dinner? It's not on the dinner menu but I'm hoping they'll let me order it. :)

There is a good chance that they would, but in my opinion it isn't very good. The last couple of times I had one for lunch (most recently in September), it was very, very dry and not very cheesy at all - quite disappointing. None of that gooey, cheesy sensation like you expect (or like I create in my own kitchen). I have no motivation to try it again any time soon.

That being said, the cheese plate at Chefs is lovely, as are many of the other offerings.

Thanks for the input PictureJumpr, maybe I should reconsider the ham and cheese sandwich...I definitely don't want a dry non-cheesy sandwich. lol

...off to look over the dinner menu again :goodvibes

I know it's a different restaurant, but in February we ate at Rose and Crown, and I was not able to get the burger which is on the lunch menu at dinner. So my guess based on that experience is if it's not offered for dinner, the cooking things used for it are probably being used for something else or have been cleaned and cleared all together.

In my experience you cannot order lunch items at dinner and dinner items at lunch

I don't know if this helps or not but the croque monsieur is my husbands favorite sandwich so when we were there on our anniversary we got the recipe directly from chefs de france and now make it at home. if you can make a basic grilled cheese sandwich you can kick it up a notch and make these. thought i'd share...

Croque Monsieur: Chefs de France, Epcot
MAKES: 4 sandwiches
2 tablespoons minced shallots
2 to 3 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup fat-skimmed chicken broth
1/4 cup milk or whipping cream (they said they use whipping cream)
6 ounces gruyère cheese, shredded (1 1/2 cups)
4 slices of Gruyère cheese, thickly sliced
1/16 teaspoon fresh-grated or ground nutmeg
8 slices firm white bread
1/4 pound sliced cooked ham
Shredded provolone, parmesan and Swiss mixed together

1. In a 10- to 12-inch nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat, stir shallots in 1-tablespoon butter. Stir often until golden, about 3 minutes. Add flour; stir until blended. Remove from heat and add broth and milk; whisk to blend well. Return to heat and whisk until mixture is boiling vigorously. Remove from heat and add cheese and nutmeg; stir until cheese is melted. Pour sauce into a bowl.

2. Lightly butter one side of each bread slice and lay buttered sides down on a sheet pan. Divide half the cheese sauce equally among 4 slices; spread sauce to edges. Lay ham, cheese equally over sauce, top with the remaining bread slices.

3. Place the provolone, parmesan and Swiss cheese on top of the bread and bake in the oven until cheese is melted.

Thanks everyone! I ended up moving some reservations around and was able to change the reservation from dinner to lunch and I think that's going to work out better all around. :)

That steak sure does look good though...
