We are going with a group of family, so we shared the choosing of restaurants. Our 2 kids (DS 9 & DD 13) are rather selective eaters and my DH is concerned that they won't find much to eat at Chef's or Boma that they like.

The most current kids menu on Allears for Chef's shows chicken strips/pasta and a hamburger so DS will be ok. Can DD (13) order from there and will the portion be enough? I see the mac and cheese on the menu--does this have a very strong flavor? She might pick that.

How about some insight on the Boma buffet for kids! I know both of them can eat from the kids buffet, so if there are some kid friendly choices there, they'll be ok. DH read somewhere that they will make a hamburger for the kids if you request it--anyone experienced this?

I think both restaurants will be ok and we could always pick up something else for them to eat at a CS if they are hungry.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Not sure which chef's you are referring to (Mickey's or de France). But my picky 5 year old was happy at Boma. In the buffets, the kids can pick things that they like from the adult portions of the buffet too. My dd had plain pasta and french fries from the kids portion of the buffet and fresh fruit and corn muffins from the adult parts. Then there were the cookies.:yay:

If you are referring to de France for Chef's then I would avoid the macaroni for a picky eater. It is NOT American Kraft macaroni and cheese - my niece ordered it last year (at 17) and did not like it saying it wasn't like normal mac n cheese. If you read the description - it clearly states that.

Just thought I'd give a heads up.

Les chefs Mac n Cheese is a cream sauce/cheese.It is gruyere cheese with a nutmeg flavor. It is NOT like Kraft or anything remotely like American Mac n Cheese. As for Boma, I have not heard anything about them making a burger, but my picky 6 yr old who would live on mac n cheese and chicken tenders found PLENTY of choices to eat there.

I would use it as an opportunity to expand their pallate. Encourage them to try something new. It might help with the pickyness!

My kids are picky and have done very well ordering at Chefs de France and finding food on the buffet at Boma. They tried a few things from the main "adult" buffet, but mostly stuck to the kids' section. They had plenty to eat! Even my non-adventurous meat and potatoes DH loved Boma - mostly for the meat! He insists we go back!

Thanks for all of the info! I do hope at Boma, they will try some new things, but it is good to know that there will be other choices available. They are required to eat things I make at home, that they may not like, but I'm not going to press the issue when they are on vacation!

Does anyone know anything specific about an "adult" ordering the hamburger or chicken strips at Chef's De France from the kids menu?
