Hi!

First trip to WDW this summer and looking at dining. We currently have a reservation at Chef Mickey's but have been reading some negative reviews.

Anyone that has eaten at Goofy's kitchen over in California, is the food quality about the same? Also, in lots of photos I have seen Pluto but he's not listed as being regular. Does anyone know if Pluto is a regular at Chef Mickey's?

Thanks

Chef Mickey's is nice for breakfast. Have done it 3 times without a problem. The food is standard Disney breakfast buffet. I've heard that dinner there tends to have more issues, but since I don't like buffet dinners anyway, we've never had dinner there. We like Chef Mickey's and I recommend it for breakfast. Pluto was there when we dined there this January.

As with anything, everyone has an opinion. Some people just don't like buffets. Don't let someone else's opinion scare you away from a place you're interested in trying. You're at Disney, so it's hard to go really wrong.

Breakfast is probably safer than dinner. Chef Mickey has been having really bad reviews for years now. We stil went last summer because my youngest was turning three at WDW and she's Minnie Mouse biggest fan. I'm happy to have tried it (we did brunch). Will I go back? No!

We went to Chef Mickey's last month for dinner and thought it was pretty yummy. I was at Goofy's Kitchen in Cali last April for breakfast and I enjoyed it. It's hard to compare dinner to breakfast, but I'd say they're comparable. Pluto was at Mickey's last month.

We went last August for dinner and actually had a great experience. It was one of our top favs that trip! But we did have an ADR right when it opened for dinner, around 5pm so that might have made a difference in food and service since everyone wasn't tired out and annoyed yet lol! We actually didn't mind the food either for a dinner buffet. We do the buffets for the kiddos just bc it's easier. Pluto was there and he was actually our fav character interaction-wise. He danced with my (then) 4 year old and let my 1 year old touch his whiskers and "pet" him. We happened to get a 5:10pm ADR for this upcoming trip and we're looking forward to it!

We really like the breakfast at CM, the dinner...not so much. Like others have already said, it is the normal breakfast fare with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and yes Pluto all decked out in chefs outfits. We have dined at Goofy's Kitchen when we were in California a few years ago and we had a great time there too (again we only had breakfast) and we will be dining there for breakfast again when we head back to California in June.

We've been there 3 or 4 times and Pluto has always been there.

We liked breakfast better than dinner, but dinner was fine. The food was hot and plentiful, but nothing was stand out.

We had dinner there the Friday before Easter (at the end of March) this year and enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner there a few days later. I thought the food was tasty and fresh and both myself and my 14 year old son found lots that we enjoyed. My son always has some severe food allergies and the chefs were great. We discovered that he could eat most of the desserts which is WAY different than most other buffets or even some of the restaurants at Disney. He was in heaven over the dessert choices. We're going back this summer and already have an ADR for it. The character interaction was very good too although we really came for the food.

I'm not a fan of the buffet breakfasts because I like to be in the park that time of day - or asleep - lol! Enjoy your trip! :)

I can't answer about which characters are there now, since it's been a while, but in the past, the soup has been great at dinner, plus I'm a big fan of the parmesan mashed potatoes.

If you go on a night when they have prime rib or flank steak, it'll be a good meal. The salad bar is decent, and I always liked the salmon too.

Have fun whatever u decide! :)

We go to dinner at Chef Mickey every year. Pluto has always been there. The food is typical buffet food. It is hot and plentiful and everyone can get whatever they like. With a family of three kids of ranging in ages I like having options in the food category. My kids love the characters at this meal and the interactions are always really nice. This is one they asked to go back to every time.

Hi!

I've had this same concern - read a LOT of negative reviews of CM. We have a 7:30am ADR - do you think going this early will have a positive effect on the overall experience?

While I too had a less than stellar dinner experience, there is not ounce of me that regrets going there. It was for the experience IMO, I am not concerned with the amount of money I paid. My daughter didn't notice any of the things that I was concerned with. This picture made it worth it, she would not have had this experience had i listened to the negative reviews. She had a blast and that's all that matters.

100%, yes. This was the time period we went last August 7:35 AM ADR. First morning in Disney on our first trip with the kids. Character interaction was excellent, top notch. Service was okay but a little slow at the end; still, we walked to MK and made it for the welcome show, so that was pretty decent. Food was hot and plenty of choices; nothing stands out, but nothing was inedible. I think my kids ate waffles and bacon and were happy campers. In fact, my DD7 remembers it as her favorite meal and has asked to repeat it when we return (planning to go again this August). DS5 danced and had a blast with the characters. Great memories made.

Actually the service was fantastic when we went in March - if you mean the servers coming to the table and bringing drinks and such. Crystal Palace has really gone downhill compared to Chef Mickeys - and I used to LOVE Crystal Palace for lunch or dinner. The character interaction was very good and I've been to a lot of character buffets - lol! Donald was one of the funniest and most well done that I've ever seen on one of the evenings he was there. His dancing just sent everyone into fits of laughter.:rotfl:

I'm glad you're keeping your ADR - I hope you enjoy it!

I have posted alot of comments on the boards lately defending Chef Mickey's... People love bashing this place and I just dont get it.. One of my fav spots on property.

One could say the same why anyone would love this place or defend it.. I just don't get it? One of my least favorite spots on property. :confused3

Actually I do get it, it's called opinions. We all have opinions; some will see things the way we see it and others will see it differently. Your opinion that it is a great place and that you love it is not wrong, nor is my opinion that CM has the worst food of any buffet located in WDW. I bash it and hate it; you love it and defend it... We are both right based off our likes and dislikes and our experiences.:goodvibes
