Hey everyone :goodvibes

I haven't booked any ADRs, i've not decided yet but we might just go with the flow rather than plan everything in advanced. If we did, does anyone know if we would get a table for breakfast at Chef Mickeys just by walking in and asking?

I don't mind if we go up and are asked to come back a couple of hours later or whatever, we could grab a snack meantime.

We'll be in Orlando from 6-16 May.

Cheers :thumbsup2

I would be wary about just turning up with CM, it's very popular. I phoned at 180 days for all our ADRs last trip and this was the only one I didn't get within an hour of my preferred time (this was for 2 people) I know they do start the breakfast very early so possibly if you waited until you were in Orlando to book it'd be the 7am or thereabouts sitting/s that'd be left.

I think you will struggle at places like Chef Mickey's. It has got harder and harder over the last few years to get walk ins at the popular places, because of the dining plan. I tried to get a walk in at Ohana, early evening when I was staying at the Poly and they had nothing available for the whole evening. And that was in early December, which is a quiet time of year in Walt Disney World.

You could make ADR's and cancel/change them if you change your plans. We usually do Chef Mickey's near the beginning of our trip, and it's a lot of fun. It's open for dinner as well as breakfast.

Wow, i'm really glad I asked now! :thumbsup2 That surprised me!

I'll try giving them a call tomorrow, see if we can get something reasonable for one of our days and just plan that day around it.

We done Chef Mickeys last time and even if we don't manage to get any other TS meals in Disney, we will be very happy. I prefer to eat out of the parks mostly, it's a good chance to have a break and recharge.

Thanks for the advice Lizzybear and Cinders :thumbsup2

I agree,it's a very popular character meal.
I would definately ring before hand and pre-book.:thumbsup2 Hope you manage to get the dates you want.

Please for your sanity's sake book this ASAP because it's extremely popular, we last went for a breakfast there in CMs and it was chaos but the food was fantastic, long lines built for autographs and photos with the characters :thumbsup2 They do work their way around the restaurant so even if you are picking food from the buffet your server should be able to let you know how far away they are.
While we were waiting to be seated we saw many families turned away who just walked up to the CM desk and they expected to get in without an ADR, it just wasn't possible at all that particular day in fact they were booked solid for breakfasts for the whole week, they do serve dinner though which is an alternative option but we have never had dinner there yet. Those poor families had to go elsewhere for breakfast with unhappy OHs and kids in tow:eek: That's why us planners we have more knowledge and sense than to leave it until the last moment.

Good luck in getting a table we phoned last week for either b/d for dates between 6th may and the 26th all booked out!!!:headache:

That's why we'll book at 90 days in advance of when we want them, 3 months-ish should be enough time to get the dates and times and locations we want.
By then we should know all the parks hours EMS and itinerary should be finalised.
We've never had a problem making our ADRs before the CMs were always very helpful and friendly I'm praying this year's ADRs will be as simple to do too. By June they should have ironed out any "online system" problems.

It would be a shame if you miss out on eating there. I would keep calling - even when you arrive in case of cancellations. If you're staying on property, I know they used to keep some tables for folk booking when they arrive but I don't know if they still do that.

If you can't get Chef Mickey's - the breakfast in Animal Kingdom is great, or one of the meals in the Garden Grill - Epcot.

I have to admit we struggled for Tusker house,we had to put it on at the end of the holiday as we couldnt get the date's we wanted at all.
Make sure if you do want to do a character meal you have another place you'd like to eat just incase. :thumbsup2

There is a thread in the Disney resturants section about ADR's i managed to get Chef mickeys with another family who had some extra space at their table also its a way of getting to meet other Dis'ers:banana:

Silly me :( All dates are fully booked...

Oh well, we managed to get Boma for the 7th. I'll keep trying and hope for a cancellation.

I'll also have a look at that thread you mentioned Disney Joey :) Thanks once again everyone! :thumbsup2

I would definitely do an ADR!
CM is one of the most popular character meals because of the characters that are in attendance. For any character meal or dinner show, I would say book to avoid disappointment.

You won't regret booking Boma i'm sure, we loved it and the bf can't wait to return this trip :)

Are you staying near the Contemporary? If so, and you don't get an ADR, many no shows are the first ones in the morning, due to people sleeping in. My sister and her family couldn't get an ADR, walked up and asked. They were asked if they could wait for 10 minutes before an answer. They waited the 10 minutes, then were shown to a table. That morning, CM had 3 families not show up for the first seating.

We're on the Sherberth Road just at the junction with 192, and from a map it looks like a pretty straightforward drive. We might just do that on an MK day, and make sure we leave really early. If there looks to be no chance, we will still have time to go elsewhere then come back and reuse our parking ticket :)

One more thing sorry....

Boma is AKL right? We don't have to pay for parking at AK to use that do we?

Also, is it the same with Contemporary? Have they got a separate car park we could go to, if we decided not to go to MK that day?

Hi Paul
Boma is at AKL and you get a couple of hours free parking to dine here if you are an off-site guest, the same goes with all Disney Hotels.
