I was wondering what the Buffet was like. Also the character interaction. I have heard really good things, but am curious if we should celebrate dd birthday here. I am unsure because i heard they have a sundae bar and if that is the case I am thinking that a cake would be better at a different dinner. I just wanted some input thanks.

Chef Mickey's would be a fantasic location to celebrate a birthday so if you can get an ADR there go for it. As for character interaction the few times my family and I have went there for dinner I remember Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale comming to our table multiple times. So based on that the character interaction is great because they spend an equal amount of time at each table.

We really liked Chef Mickey's . There was enough variety in the buffet for all of us, one who is a picky 8 year old and he was pleased to see pizza. There were lots of little neat desserts and yes a sundae bar but believe it or not the time we went it was spitting out unfrozen/liquid/mess. Both sides of the dessert bar were like that. I'm sure it's usually fine. As far as characters, we got to see all of them....but the one we didn't get a chance with was the elusive MICKEY!! The one my kids wanted to see the most. We got tons of pictures. But no Mickey ones. Again, probably isn't always that way. Overall great time either way!!:thumbsup2

besides what CR Resort Fan has said, food there is very good. A lot of variety and it is quite fresh. I love all the characters, a lot of interaction time, and once on my last trip mickey and chip or dale (i don't remember which) started "fighting" friendly of course but very funny. I loved it, all the tables around us would cheer on who they liked...it was really fighting though...more of compeating for attention kind of thing... But CM is one of my favorite places to eat. And watching the monorail go by as you eat is great too! Go for it!

We went there and celebrated my god-daughter's birthday - it was a week and a half after her 10th birthday and since we paid full price she deserved for it to be her birthday prresent! She was given a placemat with character signatures when we arrived, then got a cupcake during one of the songs. It was a lot of fun, good food, good service and great character interaction.

My dh's best friend (god-daughter's father) wanted to have his picture made with some characters and the meal at Chef Mickey's was a surprise. That was fun!

Chef Mickey's is my absolute favorite restaurant. We've been 3 times, all have been fantastic!

No Chip and Dale are not there anymore. They were there when we went in '04 but not in '07. My girls' love it there. That was the first place they asked for when we were asking where to eat in '08.

The character intereaction is great there as well as the food. My girls love the sundae bar too!:thumbsup2

We went for dinner for my birthday one year, it was also my nieces first trip so we wanted a nice character meal. The food was terrible but the character interaction was the best. When they brought out my birthday cake (that I ordered) all the characters came over to "sing" to me. The girls got the biggest kick out of it.

PS the girls didnt like the food at all either, we went to MK afterwards for the MNSSHP and we had to get them CS somewhere because they were still hungry

I agree with this. The food was gross IMO, but the character interaction was good. Overall, however, we felt a bit rushed through the whole meal.

I don't think Chip n dale are there any longer :sad2:

I don't think they are there any more either. We went in 06 and they were there, but in 07 they were not. I really missed those two crazy critters being there too. :confused3 I love interacting with them, they are the best characters in the parks.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have adr's for dinner there, and I think i will order a cake. What does getting a place mat made cost? I know about the cakes, but I have never done a place mat. I think DD would enjoy it :)

We will be celabrating son in laws birthday there in 16 days :cool1: . Someone advised me to let them know at the podium, when you check in , that you are celebrating a b'day and request the cup cake. The reason being, is that this is a buffet and there are so many good deserts you could get at the buffet. Also, if you are going to a park afterwards or staying in a hotel room, as opposed to a condo, etc, you might not have any place to keep the cake :confused3 .
FWIW, that is what we are going to do.
Also, I believe the placemats are free.

have a great trip :goodvibes

Karen :) :)

The character interaction was good but the food was not that great. We were their in August and was disappointed with the food.

I did not care for the dinner buffet. The variety was very small and food quality just average. Characters were great though and I love the Contemp resort.
