Where is chef mickeys is the food any good? and we can't book character dining we are in the UK and would cost us a hell of a lot to phone and book character dining. we are going to ask if there is any cancelations when we get there, but is it worth going to chef mickeys even if you don't have character dinner or breakfast booked?

We love character dining bc you have to eat and then you dont have to stand in line later for autographs if your kids are into that.

Depending on what time of year, you may want to eat the cost of making the one call to get dining. Can you use the 1-800 number over there?

It also may depend on where you are staying?

This is what happened to us. We were staying at the CR and went down to have breakfast at Concourse Steakhouse when DH noticed Chef Mickey's was empty. This was about 7:15am. So he ran over and yes they had room for us and some other family that overheard what we were doing. So luckily I had the camera and autographs books with us. We then canceled our breakfast for two days later.

So you can try and walk up when they open, I have read that this works for dinner as well and you might luck out, or call Disney Dining when you arrive in the States and try to get as many ADRs as you can, maybe someone cancelled like we did, if it is really important you can try everyday.

Another one we did thaht did not seem overcrowded was Garden Grill in EPCOT, this was Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale, they do lunch and dinner.

Have fun!

ETA Chef Mickey's is in the Contempory Resort, this is a monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom.

I've moved this over to the Restaurants board since it's a better fit there than on theme Parks!

Thanks!

Knox

Chef Mickey's is at the contemporary hotel.

We have been twice there for breakfast, but they also do lunch and dinner.

It doesn't cost that much to ring from the UK. If you can afford the cost of a holiday to Florida, you can afford the cost of a call can't you?

Your kids will be thrilled with meeting Mickey and Co. We are going to try dinner this time.

They dont always do lunch. I think only during busy times. No lunch wheren we were there in the spring.

Stichfreak, I'm in Ireland and made my ADR's late on a Sunday night cost me about €4. I would recommend booking in advance for all meals, but then I'm a control freak!

If you have booked through a travel agent you could them make the ADRs for you, but I would highly recommend the ADRs because if you are traveling during a particularly busy time you won't have to wait in long lines and only get fast food. What I do is always make my list of ADRs with approximate times I want to eat and it usually only takes me between five and 10 minutes.

I called from the UK to make our ADR's at our 180 day point and was on the phone 25 minutes to a Disney CM. I was dreading the phone bill and what my Dad would say :scared: To my suprise, the call cost approx £2.00! I was made up with it, so much so I called back and booked MP&PP for April without any fear.

If you look at it this way, if you call 118-118 here in the UK, it costs £0.72 per call and thats for within the UK. So £2 to Disney isn't all that bad!

Well Chef Mickeys is in the one of the Deluxe resorts the food is AWESOME!!!!!! it has alot of the characters too. and it is HUGE with like little things with candy in them and you can just poor in your bowl which is cool too. :)

We went for Breakfast and for Dinner in October. Dinner was our first meal there and it was fine. The buffet food was set up and tasted very much like any chain buffet that you go to. Fine food, but nothing really special. You're truly paying for the characters here. I must remember though, I have been spoiled by more gourmet buffets (for Chef Mickey Prices) in Vegas.

The character interaction at dinner felt a little rushed and not very personal. We'd been here for breakfast before (in 2004) and remembered much better character interaction.

We went for breakfast later on in the trip and the interaction was AMAZING! The food was again fine, in my opinion a bit better than the dinner food, but nothing that I'd go rushing back for just to eat again. If you're mostly interested in food, the breakfast buffet at Boma is much cheaper and has food that is as good or better.

However, if you're going for Mickey and the gang - Chef Mickey's Breakfast is the way to go!

I'd suggest breakfast over dinner. It's a little less expensive, food quality is decent and interaction is amazing!
