We are arriving on Sunday Sept 23. We have a 7:40 ressie for Chef Mickey's. Fireworks are starting at 8:00. Is the an ok time?. We couldn't get anything earlier. Will we be able to see the fireworks?

Chances are with a 7:40 PM ADR and 8:00 PM fireworks there is not enough time. You would need to check-in for your ADR and there is no guarantee that you would be seated right at 7:40, plus once you sit down it's going to take you a while to eat and for all the characters to come around to your table. Now if you check-in and your table is not ready you might be able to watch the fireworks from the 4th floor observation deck if you keep waiting past 8:00 PM. However with all the people and the noise I am not sure if your pager would work outside, because I know it works on all other parts of the 4th floor. If the pager does work outside and it happens to go off, you would have to make sure that someone keeps an eye on it so you don't miss your ADR because I am sure they page it a few times before they give your table to the next set of guests.

Chef Mickey's stays pretty lively and crowded all night long. We have frequently gone for a late dinner, the buffet has always been hot and fresh, they keep it replinshed constantly. Also, if you are still there say around 8:30 to 9:00, things have wound down and many of the characters will spend lots of time with you. There are a few tables in one section that have a view of the castle. Not sure how good they would be for viewing the fireworks, I have only been in that section at breakfast. Its pretty bright inside the restaurant so unless they dim the lights back there you might not be able to see anyway. And this is a very small section. We were seated in the next section over last year and I don't remember seeing anything that made me think people were watching the fireworks which would have been going on during our dinner. In any case, the best place to view Wishes is inside the Magic Kingdom anyway. We saw them from on top of the Contemporary at the California Grill's observation deck and I was disappointed even up there, that high, outside. So I think at Chef Mickey's, which is much lower they would be even more unspectacular. So you might ask the hostess when you check in if you can get a window side table but just know if you don't, you likely won't be missing much anyway. Have a great trip!

Just curious which part of Chef Mickey's has a room where you can view the castle? In all the times my family and I went there we never saw it. Plus Chef Mickey's and the Magic Kingdom itself are on opposite sides so I don't see how it's possible to see it from there?

Its the one in the very back. Sort of a small section. We had breakfast in there once, its pretty small. I do remember dd and I looking over at the castle. It had some sort of tinted glass windows in it. I want to say its down a step or two from the buffet area. If you are on the buffet, the side furthest from the hostess podium, its behind that. I mean there might be seven or eight tables back there.

Oh ok. I guess I never seen it because the 1st time my family and I went there we had a booth which was towards the Concourse Steakhouse and the other times we were seated in that room with pictures of the characters on the wall, which was behind the desert station.

No its on the other end. I may be dreaming, but I swear I remember eating back there in February of 05 and dd and I looking at the castle and being irritated my husband and son didn't want to go MK that day!

Ok now I am going to request this area! I had no idea you could see the castle from CM's!

I am about 99% sure we could see it from that one little room. I even hauled out my trip video from that trip in February 2005, I knew I was bound to have camcorded some time with the kids at that breakfast with the characters. I had but it was hard to see what was on the other side of the windows due to the glare! However there was one shot where dh and I both thought you could see the castle far off in the distance. It would be a funky angle since its very off to one side however.
