Hi Everyone! I'm planning a trip for 2007 to the wonderful world of disney! We were just at WDW in May and did a character dinner at the Crystal Palace. I was wondering which character DINNER was more recommended crystal palace or chef mickey's? If anyone has done dinner at both and can give some opinions that would be great!

Well I think Chef Mickey's had better food than Crystal Palace's. However Crystal Palace is inside the park which can be a big advantage. Chef Mickey's had a nicer salad bar and prime rib, while CP had some sort of sliced flank steak that was okay but kind of tough and dry. But all in all, character meals are about characters. CP has the Pool characters, CM has Mickey and friends. So going with the one that has the characters you want to see is probably the best bet.

We just went to both for dinner earlier this month and I'd say they were about equal. I liked desserts at Chef Mickey's better, salads at Crystal Palace better, entrees were slightly (and I mean slightly) better at Crystal Palace, but overall they're probably about even. They're both equally loud although Chef Mickey's was a bit sillier with the napkin twirling and such. I think the characters at Chef Mickey's play the part a little more. While Pooh and friends at CP make the stops at each table, we really thought the characters at CM acted out their personalities, especially Chip, Dale, and Minnie.

For the record, we saw Minnie, Mickey, Chip, Dale, Goof, and Donald at our dinner.

Thanks so much! What did they have for meat, if you can remember, at CM? I know they had prime rib, turkey, and chicken at CP!

We eat at Chef Mickey's for dinner twice every trip & go to Crystal Palace once each trip. That should tell you our favorite.

My DS8 can't get enough of the prime rib at CM!!

I think CM had prime rib and ham--although I could be missing something in there too.

We love both however DH swears Crystal Palace is better. We are going 2x to CP in September and 1x to CM's.

Chef Mickey's generally has prime rib, another carved meat such as ham or turkey plus a fish dish, usually salmon. The night we went in May it was a pesto crusted salmon that was really good. They also have peel and eat shrimp and I want to say a pasta dish. Then of course there's the chicken nuggets on the kids table! It has a good variety of food and very tasty desserts! But so does CP (I like my desserts). Have a great trip!

Maybe we will just do both! lol It just seems like all of the places we want to eat in the world are around magic Kingdom and we like to pick out restaurants close to the park we will be visiting during the day!

We do that all the time. For example in December, we have a total of 7 ADR's, here are four of them: Liberty Tree, Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare and Tony's. With the age of our kids, buffets and MK just sort of go hand in hand!

Ya me and boyfriend are 20 and 21 so we like all the parks, although we didn spend most of our vaca at AK and MK last trip! MK just seems to have better restaurants around. My boyfriend is an eater so buffets are def good, but he's a health nut so we do the dinner one cause he wouldn't anything offered at the breakfast versions! :)

We usually go to Crystal Palace for the character breakfast - with an 8:05 am ressie on a day they are not opening until 9am - then we are right at rope drop in Tomorrowland...and we like Chef Mickeys for dinner....we have a nice dinner and go back to MK for Wishes!!!!

We also do CP as a breakfast and CM as dinner. They are GREAT in that order (just not in the same day!!! LOL) We did CP for dinner last year and just wasn't impressed.

Have a great trip!

I would say... Chef Mickey's! Great characters, MIckey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pluto, Donald and Goofy!!! Great Food! We I go there, I take like 3 plates full!!! There both good though.

popstar7867 - you should make an ADR at Boma! If the boyfriend likes to eat buffets and likes healthy eating, he'll love it! They have really great offerings. The theme is South African (think British influence), so it's slightly unusual (pumpkin bisque, bread pudding, fufu), but not too unusual (carved beef, noodles, fruit bar (strawberries, grapes), salad bar (some exotic dressings), cookies) and there are lots of items to choose from. Many of the items are vegetarian and quite healthy. It's a nice respite from the fries. The resort is beautiful, too.

From AK, you can take the bus to AKL. The only tricky part is getting back via bus if you dine late. You can always get a cab, but if you have a car, this would be a good time to use it. Otherwise you might have to take the bus to DTD, and that can take a while.

We enjoyed Chef Mickey's for dinner, but we've only done CP for breakfast. The options at CM seemed healthier to me for dinner. The peel n' eat shrimp and salad bar are healthy, if basic. They also have some fresh fruit (whole oranges, apples) on the dessert buffet.

IMHO....Chef Mickeys is more of the atmosphere not the food. We had great seats the first time and our seats stunk the second time. The food was okay both times but our seats made all the difference in the world. Sit in the open area by where you check in. You can actually dance and such with the characters. It makes it worth it... :confused3

Hi! We did dine at Boma on our trip in May! It was great and we loved trying all of the different foods! The Animal Kingdom Lodge was gorgeous! I LOVE animals so it was really nice to sit out on the Savannah for a bit before our ADR!
