So what makes Chef Mickey's so great. Why does everyone love the place? Anyone not like it?

last year on Mothers Day ....9 in our party went there for the Mothers Day Brunch.....it was our first time at Chef Mickeys and all 9 of us enjoyed the atmosphere ..the food and the characters.........we had a great time and the food was really good.....

IMO, Chef Mickey's is an okay buffet and the atmosphere is fun. It's a great place to meet the "big" characters and get some good pictures. It sort of gets everyone in a "Disney" mood :goodvibes

I agree, its ALL about the characters!!

I figure the food is about the same as most breakfast buffets but my kiddos can bring their autograph books and get all the *big* characters out of way.

It's like bringing your family to a party with the Disney characters.

BTW, CM's always has excellent soup. If you aren't loving the rest of the food--don't know how since we always enjoy at least the prime rib and parmesan mashed--make sure you get a bowl of the soup du jour.

It's nothing special to us. Our kids have never gotten into autographs or meeting the characters (in our experience, the nonhuman characters don't talk -- only the princesses), so the food is what makes or breaks a restaurant for us. And CM food is nothing special.

How far in advance can you make ADR's for character meals at Chef Mickey's? TIA

I need a few recommendations for a dinner restaurant that is on the Disney Dining plan, but is not located in one of the parks. It is for 4 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child. Thanks.

It is definitely the characters that make the place. We have been there for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Food is OK - I'm not at Disney for gourmet experiences. I'll never forget the fun we had with our kids the first time we went. They were 5 and 10 and had a blast. The 'nonhuman' characters are not allowed to talk, but charades can be fun. They always enjoy going back. In 2007 we went with our son and d-i-l and 1 year old grandson. It was wonderful! We are not into autographs but a hug form Mickey goes a long way in my book! Hopefully this fall we will be going again with an addition - our first granddaughter. That will definitely be one of our stops!:grouphug:

It's not great at all - dirty, noisy, way too crowded, supbar service, yucky food, long waits and kids running everywhere! The characters are hit and miss as well, depending upon how many kids are grabbing at them - yikes!

We really don't care for Chef Mickey's at all and feel it needs a big overhaul (we've been at least 4x times, so no more chances for us).

Good luck, Tiger

I completely agree - I was extremely disappointed. I am not a food snob - but the meal was basically inedible / cold

It is very upbeat (a party atmosphere). The food is good enough--my DS seems to have enough to eat (and he is very picky). It's always fun to see characters when you eat. The desserts are good too. It's a must-do for us.

First of all you are really going to meet Chef Mickey & his pals,we thought the food for a buffet style breakfast was quite good but this is the only on-site breakfast that we done. 2 things that we didn't like, firstly it smells:eek: by this I mean that the carpet smells & is generally a problem in places where quite alot of food gets spilled on the floor -we didn't really expect this! Secondly after checking in you are then shown to another queue to get a family pic taken ,this wasn't on the photopass scheme,lo & behold said photo package arrives at your table & it's $30 -because it also has a pic of Mickey & his pals.We just felt that there was pressure to buy as opposed to going & viewing your pic when ready.

Regarding the photo - You don't need to get the photo done at all. They want you to do it for 2 reasons:

1) They sell a lot of photos (even though the photos here are horrible), so it's profit for them.

2) It's a way to pass the time while waiting - the waits for Chef Mickey's are astronomical. You have to wait in a huge line just to check in for your ADR that you made 180 days prior, and then another line line to be seated. This way, by pushing families through a photo op, it passes the time and allows them to keep the waiting area from being as congested.

Sorry you felt pressured - we have been to Chef Mickey's 4x and did the photo 1x. It was awful, so we never purchased it at all!

My kids love this. Of course it is noisy- it is a party atmosphere.

I have to agree. I think 1900 Park Fare has a far better buffet and better character interaction.
