Chef Mickey's---?? Walk-in???

Okay... before anyone bites my head off... I just want to say that I have tried and tried to get dinner reservations for my son and I at Chef Mickey's while we are there in April, but the ONLY thing they have had available (and I started calling back in January), is an 11:30 reservation, which is the last reservation for breakfast, which will mean we will get the last of the food, etc... and I REALLY wanted to go for dinner.... so I would like to ask if anyone has ever tried to go as a walk-in for the dinner buffet and were you successful?

I think if you go kinda early and are willing to wait a little you may be able to get in!!! I know tho that Chef Mickey's is really hard to get into on a regular basis!! Good Luck!!

There's a slim possibility they could accommodate you if you're standing there at the moment when they open. But, that's a long shot. They don't set aside tables for walk-ins at the character meals, and if they're fully booked, they'll politely turn you away.

The best thing I can suggest is to keep calling, even after you arrive at WDW, and especially the morning of the day you want to dine at CM. People do change their plans, and cancel reservations.

You will be the last reservation for breakfast, but it also means that they will start changing over to lunch. The buffet is never really empty, it just changes food. You may find that an 11:30 lunch is perfect. Hit MK early that morning with a grab and go breakfast. Then have a nice relaxing LUNCH in the heat of the day with the characters. I think 11:30 break with an early start sounds good.

If you really have your heart set on eating there, you should consider the late breakfast seating. It's not as if the same food they brought out at 8:00 a.m. will still be sitting there all cold and nasty for the late diners in the 11 o'clock hour. We had a CM late breakfast about 3 weeks ago and it was GREAT (food, interaction, wait time, etc.)! Plus, that took care of 2 meals in 1 for my family (instead of having to buy breakfast and then lunch later).

I also say just keep calling. I think you'll have a very slim chance of being seated if you just walk in. I know how hard it is to get reservations there for any meal. We started calling 120 days out from our trip as that's when we booked it and I couldn't get in for breakfast at all and we're just a family of 3! We did get dinner seating but our ressie is for 7:50 pm. This means we will have a very light snack in the afternoon to tide us over until that late. But Ds4 has never been to Chef Mickey's and I wanted to eat there.

We went to 1900 Park Faire last June without an ADR and were seated in about 15 minutes, and this is a Cindy meal We went to Guest Services at MK to get ADR's for anything nearby and we were told there was nothing available. We left MK, hopped on the monorail and decided to try just in case. The hostess was shocked that we had been told we couldn't get in We had a fantastic meal that we would have missed out on if we hadn't walked up. So I would say, give it a shot, it doesn't mean you'll get in but what's the worse thing that'll happen, they'll turn you away.

I thought through EVERYTHING I have read... there is only breakfast and dinner served at Chef Mickey's..... should I be asking for lunch reservations? I have only been asking for dinner and then told that they are all booked and then gone on to asking about breakfast.....if lunch is served...maybe I could try that... THANKS!

Yes, but they are going in April and Chef Mickey's is the hardest to get next to CRT

breakfast ends at 11:30 seating and dinner begins at 5:00PM until 9:30PM. I am not sure if there is any lunch, but I don't think so. It can't hurt to call and ask.

Friends of ours came with us and hadn't made an ADR. They showed up at the podium when it opened (there was 5 of them and they were about 10th in line)). Anyways they had no problem. In fact they were seated before us and we had an ADR. They thought that was funny! To top it off we sat right near each other and hadn't said anything to the hostess about being together.
Never hurts to try, just have a back up plan!

The characters were very interactive, the Napkin waving and singing were in full force. I did not need to eat agail until Spectro Magic and even then it was as share CS meal at Main Street Bakery.

If you can grab that ADR I'd take it in a heart beat. If you could only hear my nephew talk about Chef Mickey's still today (we went on Sept 1st) you'd understand. I think it would be really, really sad to take your son to Chef Mickey's, let him see the fun, but not be allowed in as a walk-in, especially if he has his heart set on going there. You'd be better off just avoiding the place and making a for sure ADR elsewhere. Just one woman's opinion.

I've been to WDW once before. I managed to snag CRT dining (party of 3) as a walk-in on our first day. Sounds like that must have been dumb luck. We have breakfast reservations for Chef Mickey's on our June 08 trip. Made the ressi yesterday and managed to do a time change (only 20 minutes) this morning. The only other spot available was 3 hours from our original seating time. I must be pretty lucky with my reservations yet again. Woo hoo.

Please don't flame me for saying this....
but, I have heard that it is sometimes easier to get an ADR for 3 people than it is for 2. You may want to call and see if they have anything for 3 people that is a time you like better!

Me too! We ate at 11:15 and there were tons of people and lots of food, including fresh food coming out.
