We will be arriving in Disney on May 9 (Mother's day), I'd love to get PS for dinner at either Chef Mickey's or 'Ohana and then see the fireworks afterward. I've heard that you can see them from both the Poly or the Contemporary. So assuming that is true, and assuming MK closes at 9:00 that evening (according to last year's times). Which restaurant has the best food and the best view for the fireworks??? One last question---again assuming the fireworks will be around 9:00 what time should we make the PS for so we have time to do dinner and then see the fireworks.

Hi! Yep you can see the fireworks from both resorts but you can also see them from right inside 'Ohana, but not from Chef Mickey's. If you go with Chef Mickey's then I'd say get a PS for an hour and a half to two hours before the fireworks to give you time to eat and then find a viewing spot from the Contemporary. If you go with 'Ohana then I'd suggest making your PS for an hour before the fireworks and noting on your PS that your celebrating Mother's Day and asking for a window seat, and when you get to the podium to check in tell the CM you made your dinner plans there in hopes of seeing Wishes with your dinner.
<p> Now personally, we enjoy 'Ohana's more than Chef Mickey's. We have been to 'Ohana 6 times and Chef Mickey's twice. It's really personal opinion, but I like the feel, food, and service of 'Ohana's over Chef Mickey's. We've been there for Birthday dinners(4x) and Father's Day's (2x) and request a window seat and have always been accomidated. Normally we make our PS for 5-6 but have made 1 for later at night for the fireworks, and had it not poured, we would have had a beautiful clear view of the show!

Let us know what you decide.

I'd pick 'Ohana's over CM's in a heart beat. Love 'Ohanas. The food, atmosphere and service are great. Our "cousin" was the best server we've had at WDW or probably anywhere else. At CM's on the other hand, it was loud and crowded, food was horrible and service was non existent.

Our pick would be 'Ohanas also. We just love the atmosphere and the view to watch the fireworks.

OMG I loved Ohana. Chef Mickeys is good too but I am partial to a lua style restaurant. The apps were great and the entertainment was good also. The kids enjoyed it. I can still remember the girl playing the ukele and the kids having fun:wave2:

Are there characters at Ohana?

At breakfast it is Mickey, Chip Dale and Goofy.

Dinner is not a character meal but there are special activities for the kids such as coconut races, hula dancing etc.

I would pick 'Ohana for sure....great food, great service, great atmosphere. If the fireworks are at nine, try and get a PS for 8 or 8:10. While you are lingering over your pineapple and caramel for dessert (or, you could still be eating the main stuff of course!), they will dim the lights and pipe in the music. If you are lucky enough to get a window seat, it will be a memory that will last a lifetime. Or, you could get an earlier PS, say 7:15 or 7:30, and head out to the beach after dinner and watch from there.

As a previous poster said, you can't see the fireworks from inside Chef Mick's. But you could go out to the 4th floor viewing deck (same floor as Chef Mick's is on) and watch from there. Chef Mickey's just isn't as relaxing as 'Ohana was & for me, the food wasn't as enjoyable. Our kids enjoyed meeting the characters, but they hardly ate they were so distracted. At 'Ohana they ordered hot dogs (you can order from the Kona Cafe kid's menu-hot dogs, chicken strips or mac and cheese) and our older DS really had fun with the coconut races and such. And they were mesmerized by the fireworks.

No question....Ohanna's is awsome. Cheif Mickey's is OK.

Enjoy the meal and the fireworks.

Mother's Day?? Did you say Mother's Day?? which is less than 90 days away and you don't have a PS yet! Oh my....with so many locals and CMs, I wish you luck getting that PS, especially at the time you want it! Let us know how it works out for you. I've spent many Mother's Day in WDW and know it's not easy to get a PS on short notice there.

Thanks guys and Yes I called two days ago and got PS for 'Ohana for 7:00 pm on Mothers Day for a party of seven!!!! I guess I was lucky---I'm SO excited!!! :Pinkbounc
