Hi All--

We're planning on doing either Cape May or Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast our first morning at WDW...we're having a hard time choosing which one.

Which should we choose? P.S. This will probably be our only character breakfast.

THANKS!! :)

You will receive lots of input as this has recently been discussed. My vote is for Cape May. It is less noisy than Chef Mickey, less hectic and really good character interaction. That said, if your children are really young and love Winnie the Pooh you might consider CP. Have fun.

Neither I would go to The POLY and eat at
Ohanas "Best Friends Breakfast"
the characters are: Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto.
The relaxed atmosphere of Ohanas is so nice in the morning
and the food is very good.
The characters seem to have more time and are not as
rushed at Ohanas. There is also a Kids Parade with the
characters around the room which is fun and very cute.

If you MUST see Mickey then definitely Chef Mickey's because he is not at Cape May.

I have no experience with Cape May yet but we did Chef Mickey's breakfast and we all loved it, both the food and the characters. My older son insists we go back there on our next trip and he didn't have to twist my arm!! We are also trying Cape May on our next trip for our last morning just before leaving. We're staying at BWV so it is very convenient as a last hurrah.

Agree Completely! Cape May & CP are both great.

Definitely Cape May; Crystal Palace is first in our book, followed by Cape May then Chef Mickey's. We've not Tusker House and we have not done Ohana since they switched it to family style and Stitch--not a fan of either.

I think it depends on what you're looking for in a character meal

Cape May is quieter and more low key. Characters are there and it's fun but not nearly as nosy and busy as Chef Mickey's. That said we thought it was a nice meal but not all that exciting and I don't think we'll be going back to it.

Chef Mickey's we love. Skipped it for one trip and really missed it! The whole atmosphere is different from Cape May. More active, more lively and to us more fun. Love the birthday/ celebration napkin twirling it always makes us smile.

Haven't tried Ohanas

We did try Tusker House on our latest trip (got back 10/3). The characters felt more rushed but it was still a lot of fun. Our dd loved the whole music parade they had. We'll definately go back there.

Have fun on your trip!

We have been to both.

I think the food is better at Cape May, but I think people goto Chef Mickey's for the atmosphere more then anything.

IMO, Chef Mickey's is overrated. Not saying it isn't good, just saying I think there is way to much hype about it. I had high expectations after hearing people rave about it. I was a little disappointed, thus why I think it's overrated.

With all that being said, we are going back to both in January.

^^^ We did both on our first family trip to WDW. We went to Chef Mickey's for our first breakfast and Cape Mae for our last breakfast. If I had to choose just one, I would vote for Chef Mickey's because there are more characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy). At Cape Mae we saw Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The food is great at both places so you can't go wrong with either. If you can afford it, do both! Enjoy your vacation! :)

I love Cape May, but also consider CP...the breakfast there is wonderful in the MK!

We love both but if we had to choose one it would be Chef Mickeys. I just love it there so much. We could see all of our favorites characters at Chef Mickeys which is why I choose that one. Plus we like the variety of the food at Chef Mickey's! Have fun with whatever one you choose! :thumbsup2

It would depend on the atmosphere you are looking for. We ate at Cape May for the first time in May and found it to be very laid back and much quieter that Chef Mickey's. As a result, we had more time with the characters that at other character meals. The food is good at both as well as at CP.

We couldn't choose for our December trip, so have Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Tusker House and Cape May (on our check out day), all for breakfast. We will be on the DxDP though for this trip, so that made a difference in our ADR's.

Whichever you choose, you will have a great experience and wonderful memories.

For us Cape May ranks higher than Chef Mickey's. We also really love Ohana.

We found that Cape May and Ohana have a much nicer atmosphere than Chef Mickey's. We felt that they are both worth the money much more than Chef Mickey's. This is not to say that we didn't like Chef Mickey's but when breakfast costs you $150 you should should at the very least feel that you are getting great service and beautiful surroundings.

We love Cape May too - precisely because it is so laid back. (The food is plentiful and tasty, and the character interaction is EASY and great.)

With buffets, I hate to feel like I'm having to work to get my food. I don't mind going up and getting my food myself. But with really busy buffets, it's like there's pushing and cutting in line and someone shoving their arm in front of you to dish up something out of turn. And then there's W-A-I-T-I-N-G and then someone else cuts in line, and arrrrgh! By the time you get back to your seat, you feel like you've done battle. And you don't look forward to going back to the battle. And you paid for it!

CP was like that for us. I felt mad and frazzled by the time we got out of there.

So anyway, I have a Chef Mickey's reservation for our upcoming trip, and based on the PPs, I'm regretting it! Will it be crazy busy at 7:45 in the morning? I don't like paying money just to get angry ....

I would go with Chef Mickey's because everyone says their breakfast buffet is amazing and it's always a great atmosphere.

We went to Cape May, in May of this year and we went to Chef Mickey's last month. Cape May wins hands down! The food is so much better there and there is a greater variety. The atmosphere is more relaxed at Cape May and the characters have more time to interact. I think the main thing Chef Mickey's has is simply the location.
