Thank you to the boards for a heads-up that Chef Mickey's reservations opened today for lunch during free dining.

So...now the question is...what do they serve for lunch? Anyone know the menu?

You would need to be making an ADR during free dining travel period.
Thx. Unfortunately, my dining period is July 1-17th. No free dining and no luck on CM for lunch.

I was hoping since our arrival day dinner at 1900 PF is at some insane hour (like 9/9:30 which is really late after getting up before dawn for our flight. Oh well, we'll be in Disney so no big deal

So they opened Chef Mickeys for lunch during the free DDP due to demand for TS places?

Got in too!!! Before MNSSHP on Sept 9 at 2:20!:cool1: The CM I spoke with didn't know anything about it, but when I insisted she check, it was there. She was very apologetic and helpful!

Can someone tell me what you love about Chef Mickey's? It seems so popular but looking at photos it seems so basic to me for a TS credit. Is it really that great? Rethinking my ADRs now...:surfweb:

Yay thank you! I just got in for lunch on Sept. 5. The CM I talked to didn't know about it either until she searched for it! :thumbsup2

Do you think they will continu to make lunch at Chef Mickey after the free dinning period?.... like in November?

i doubt it, but, I admit, I am kind of confused by the whole thing. I don't get how the demand is higher during Sep than it is at Christmas, Spring break or 4th of July.

I am guessing that it has little to do with demand per se, and more to do with the fact that DW has 'guaranteed free dining with 1 TS per person per day'

I know this might make no sense at all, but when people book for free DDP, many presume they will actually get/eat/use all their credits, especially their TS credits. SOOO many people onsite will be on the free DDP that the demand is HUGE for TS places. During Christmas, sure, the hotels are booked but lots of people don't book the DDP. I bet there are much less % of people paying for the DDP for December than during free DDP in September.

Last year there were lots of posts regarding people that had no clue about ADRs. DISers were coming on in droves telling horror stories about how entire families had purchased the free DDP and were unable to find a TS restaurant to eat at. One could argue that they had the responsibility to book their ADRs, BUT I have a feeling that even if everyone did book their ADRs there wouldn't be enough TS places to go around.

Think about this- MK has 5 TS restaurants I think. The average day at MK has 45K guests! :scared1: Even if a restaurant can serve 500 guests per meal for a total of 1500 guests, that's only a mear fraction of the people going to MK that day. Even 1500x5 is only a very small fraction.

If say 50% of rooms are booked on the free DDP, that's A TON of people that need/want TS meals. It seems that DW perhaps over sells and can't always handle all the people on the DDP.

The idea that thousands were being turned away that purchased the DDP shows that DW struggles to find places for free DDPers to eat. Either they are like many of us and book ADRs long before their trips or they show up and find that they can only eat at CS places. These people are often LIVID at DW as they feel they were 'sold a lemon'.

Maybe 1000s being turned away isn't correct, but I have no doubt that it was in the 100's for sure :) I have a way of exaggerating!

LOL. I knew what you meant. Of course, I'm sure there are plenty thinking that it stnks to pay much higher prices and not be able to get a TS in July but that would be :offtopic: ;)

I really wish WDW would make an option available to *choose* the number of CS & TS meals you prefer, or swap TS credits for CS. We are truly more interested in the attractions and would much rather have the option of one or two nice TS meals during our stay, and all the rest CS & snacks. It would free us up to see more at the parks. Even during free dining, I'd rather have more CS and fewer TS meals -- I'm not one of those people who wants to "get my (free) money's worth!"

if anyone gets wind of the menu i would love to know . We are eating there in september for lunch!!!! This will be our first time at Chef Mickey!!:cool1:
