I was able to get a 8:45 dinner reservation for Chef Mickey's - is this too late for good character interaction?

What do they have on the buffet for kids? Can the kids eat adult buffet items? Is dessert included in the buffet price?

My last question is how to get to the restaurant. We will me at MK that day so we can take monorail or walk. Which would be quicker? How far of a walk is it and is it clearly labelled? How long should I plan on to get there? I was thinking we could either leave as the 8:00PM fireworks start and take the monorail or walk over early and try to catch the fireworks show from the Contemporary.

Any insights are greatly appreciated!

We had a 9PM ADR at Chef Mickey's and it was one of the best we have ever had. We were pretty much that last family there and the characters came and sat with us while we finished eating.

I agree with the previous poster. We were just there last week and also had a 9pm ADR. There were very few people there and the characters visited our tables many times.

I wasn't overly impressed with the food (there are better dinner buffets, but I LOVE their breakfast buffet!), but there are things that your kids will eat like chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, etc, and there are lots of desserts, too. :thumbsup2

We also had a late ADR (around 9:00) in May. It was much less crowded than our previous visit and the characters spent more time with each table and some of them made it around more than once.

Also, the quicker way there will depend on whether or not a monorail is ready to go. If you just miss it, then walking is probably faster. It takes about 10 minutes to walk, and once you find the sidewalk, you're good to go. :)

I had a late reservation at Chef Mickey's in August 2007. We had been to Chef Mickey's earlier in the week for an early breakfast reservation and the character interaction was very rushed. They basically came over, waved, and went to leave and we had to ask them for a picture.

The late dinner reservation was great though. During the earlier part of our meal, the characters briefly stopped by and took pictures with us. We saw all the characters while we were eating. At the end of the night when the restaurant was clearing out, the characters really took time for some fun interactions. Goofy stopped by our table and started pouring salt and sugar everywhere and then Donald came by to clean it up. They both sat at our table for a lengthy amount of time. Minnie passed by to shake her head at what was going on and Mickey waved hello. We had a blast.

By the way, we were 3 girls ranging in age from 18 to 22. :)
