I know that many people vote this as the top breakfast because of character interaction. I hope the food is good. Also is Minnie always there? DD want to have a money meal? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Honestly? I think Chef Mickey's is *highly* overrated. The food is just mediocre, the character interaction is rushed and the place reminds me of an elementary school cafeteria in terms of "atmosphere".

It's average, the Crystal Palace's food was much better than Chef Mickey's, but their character interaction leaves alot to be desired.

We went to Chef Mickey's on Mother's Day and had a WONDERFUL meal! There was a lot to choose from and everything was delicious. We had a lot of time with the characters, too. There weren't any kids in our group (not young ones, anyway), but we did have a set of twins next to us who got lots of attention from all of the characters. I would definitely go again!!:p

We went on May 10th for dinner and had a 5:00p PS. This was the 1st dinner seating so the food was fresh. It was very good. a 4/5 in my opinion. The character interaction was great!

We love Chef Mickeys! DD is 12 and she still loves to go there for the food and the characters. Me and DH love the Parmessean Potatoes and the Prime Rib! I vote to go for it and at least experience once and see if it is your kind of place.:)

We do a Chef Mickey's dinner the first night of every trip. Some people love it, some hate it. You'll get many mixed reviews. We have always had a great time there, food was always fresh and hot, lots to choose from. We've also been lucky with service and character interaction.

I think it's a nice place to kick off a trip. If you're expecting 5 star dining don't go here. This place is loud and the food is typical buffet food, we think it's good for a buffet. Everyone has different opinions though, so I'd give it a try and make up your own mind.

And yes, everytime we've been there so has Minnie. We've seen Daisy and Donald everytime too and those ones are hard to find from what I've heard. Plus Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale.

Have fun!
Pammy

Like the previous poster said, we always begin our vacation with dinner at Chef Mickey's. I have two DD's (9) & (16) and they still get excited seeing all the character's. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Chip & Dale all in one place, makes it a magical meal. We thought the food was hot and delicious. My DH is a police officer and is so serious most of the time. There is nothing like a few hugs and kisses from the characters to melt away the grownup and release the big kid inside. Twirling napkins with everyone else in the place doesn't hurt either;)

I enjoyed the breakfast at Chef Mickey's much more than the dinner. There was lots of variety and everything was very tasty. The selection at dinner is IMHO worse and not as tasty. At both breakfast and dinner there is a great, fun atmosphere with all of the characters and napkin waving and such. :)

We enjoyed the food at this buffet. Like Pammy_Fr_WI said, it isn't 5 star food but it is good, hot and edible. And the character interaction really is why you would choose a Character meal over another sit down restaurant, isn't it? Last time we went Goofy was giving my Mother such a hard time for not having a Goofy pin, then when he found out that she had one(the Haunted Mansion pin with Goofy on the back) he ran off with it having my DS chasing him all over the waiting area trying to get it back. Lots of Fun.!:Pinkbounc

We've eaten at CM's one time and will never go back. The food was gross. It was all cold bland and over cooked. The place is way too loud and the service, HA, what service. Saw our server 2X. When he took our drink order and when he threw the check on our table. We were also seated upstars. Stairs, buffets and kids do not mix well.

On our last trip to WDW we had a ps at 8:30 that evening, after we ate, we went to the top of the Contemporary and watch the fireworks over the castle. Our kids loved it and it was a great way to start our vacation!

By the way, we thought the food was very good and the interaction with the characters was wonderful. Minnie sat down at our table for about 5 mins with the kids.

We've been twice for breakfast, with a 3rd trip planned in July. My kids love this place. the food is plentiful and although not gourmet, perfectly fine. we have always seen Minnie thee, and have pictures of her with all the kids, including our teenage boys:D

Normally my family and I love Chef Mickey's, it's one of our favorite restaurants in WDW and we go every vacation. However, we went on Mother's Day and it was terrible and we were shocked because we always enjoy the food. We had a 9:15 am PS and we were seated within 10 minutes which was great. But, the food was cold, the bacon was terribly undercooked, the eggs were cold and watery. I'm hoping it was just a one time thing for us and we will give it another try next time since we've always had good luck here in the past.

Thanks everyone for your help. I did get PS for July 29 about 9:15 am. I hope that we will enjoy ourselves.

THANKS AGAIN TO YOU ALL!!

For breakfast it's average. For dinner one word sums it up...gross.

Our cast Dad, Mom, DS - age 11 this year, DD - age 8 this year.
1 trip to WDW in June 2002.
2nd trip to WDW May 2003 - just around the corner, seethe day count down box below...

June 2002 -
Dinner at Chef Mickeys - food ok. Not gourmet.
Our kids liked it. Nothing fancy.
Characters came around once - some twice.
My kids had seen the characters already at other
restaurants - so they did not really care to talk to
Mickey, Minnie and friends.
We have a nice family picture from Chef Mickeys.
Oh yeah - it's noisey and interactive place.
Not a quiet sit down meal.
We sat through 2 napkin twirlings during our dinner.
I am still not sure why the napkins are twirled in the air.
No point to it.

Well, we are doing 11:15 am breakfast on May 25 - one
week from today. We are staying at the CR - so after
a magic morning at MK - we'll come back to the CR
for a bite to eat at Chef Mickeys.
If the have Mickey shaped waffles - my kids will be happy.
Not sure if they will be thrilled to see characters.
This will be there 2nd trip to WDW. Just was there last year.

They are even saying they do not want duplicate
autograph - the same ones from 2002.
Now to find NEW characters for them. Go figure :p

I will report on our breakfast at Chef Mickeys in early June.

We went for my Nephews birthday dinner. In one word it was - *discusting*

The food is overcooked, flavorless slop under heat lamps

Mickey may be a lot of things, but he definately is NOT a chef!

Breakfast is ok there, but dinner is awful. I would suggest the Crystal Palace for a great breakfast.

We love CF,but the food at breakfast is far better than the dinner offerings.

We did LOVE the food at the Easter Dinner. We by far the best buffet we ever had a WDW. But the other timeswe went to dinner i was very disappointed.
