I've been going to WDW for 15+ years, and have NEVER done a character meal :scared1: . Neither has hubby to be. I was thinking about Chef Mickey's for breakfast. He's a big breakfast person. Me, not so much. I'd probably rather go to Kona, but I'm learning that marriage has a lot to do with this pesky thing called compromise  , and his love of Goofy would probably make him enjoy Mickey's more.

Do you guys think this would a good choice for our first character meal?

Since he likes Goofy sure. A good thing about Chef Mickeys is the variety they offer. Goofy also has a character breakfast where he is the main star. Its Cape May Cafe at Beach Club. Never been but according to their menu it seems like it has a lot of variety too.

This was our first character meal on our honeymoon and we had a great time. The character interaction was great; the only one that kind-of flew by our table was Mickey but he's a busy mouse, who can blame him? Goofy was at the entrace of the restaurant and he was great. We had a late reservation and therefore we got a lot of attention from Goofy while we waited for our table to be ready. We received our "It's Our Special Day" thing as well as a chocolate cupcake with a candle on it. We also did the Princess breakfast at CRT and that was really nice as well; we got a Magical Moment Ceriticate signed by all the Princesses, the center table right next to the window over looking the corousel decorated with Mickey pixie dust and champagne flutes as a "Wedding gift".

My DH and I did CM on our honeymoon trip. After going to CP twice AFTER CM, I was underimpressed with CM. I was also put off by the fact that DH and I were seated with a room full of Japanese tourists (not a problem) who had at least one camera each (problem). We got very little character interaction b/c the other diners in the room pretty much kept them for however long they were allotted to stay in our area.
I would choose Crystal Palace over Chef Mickey's in a heartbeat.

Chef Mickey's is always my recommendation for a first character meal. I think you and your husband will have a very special meal together here.

I have done CM with and without kids. Nothing is more magical than meeting Mickey Mouse, no matter what your age. I prefer the dinner and have never been disapointed! The dessert buffet there is wonderful. :cloud9:
