My advice about Chef Mickey's:
Don't go on your first day if you had a long travel day. This made the experience very unenjoyable for us...I had read over and over how great this place is to get you in the Disney "mood." I hated the fact we hate to wait to get our stupid picture taken, then wait again to be seated. We traveled from Oregon, were up since 4:30 AM, tired, I had a migraine, the kids were wiped, although they were definitely intrigued and liked the characters a lot- Chip was the best- he sat down with the boys and played. It was very LOUD though- normally this doesn't bother me at all- I'm used to loud, but I was so tired I found it obnoxious.
As far as the food: as I recall, almost everything looked good, and what I ate tasted good. My kids ate some tasty chicken strips, although the pizza wasn't refreshed- if it was it was all taken by time we went back...I liked the salad, the ravioli and the mashed potatoes were ok---a little wet in my opinion. I liked the prime rib, although I had a hard time tracking down a roll---maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. And then, when it came time for dessert, I remember reading that you could decorate your own cupcakes---no cupcakes were anywhere!!!! Bummer! We made sundaes instead and I had a piece of great cheesecake. By the end of the meal my migraine meds had kicked in so I was feeling better and able to enjoy dessert. Our server was good- he gave us carafes of soda so we didn't have to ask for refills and he was very friendly.
Long story short- don't go if you're tired. Food decent. Characters good.
