Chef Mickey's for breakfast or dinner?

My 180 is coming up this week, we will not be on the dining plan (DD and DS don't eat much anyway and its our first time so I'm guessing we'll be way too overwhelmed to find/make it to lots of TS meals!!).

Anyway, I do want to book one character meal for our last full day and thought Chef Mickey's would be a good way to wrap things up. I was originally planning on booking dinner there, but have read so many bad reviews that I'm wondering if we should do breakfast instead?

Has anyone done both breakfast and dinner there?

We ate dinner there once and will never do it again. The restaurant was very crowded and food was mediocre. We have had breakfast there several times and have always had a positive experience and good food. I think that's because we've always had our reservation when they open at 7am, which means the food was fresh and the crowds were small.

Thanks! Hmmm, that's what I was thinking, I mean, you can't really go wrong with breakfast??

We love breakfast and dinner there equally. Both are great and the character interaction is first rate.

Our normal plan is to eat our breakfast or dinner (whichever comes first) here to start our trip off. I like doing this because this way the kids (and me!) get to see the Fab 5 and we don't have to search them out during our stay. It is a great way to kick off our vacation.

We are leaving next week and it is a very last minute trip (booked at 50 days out) and I couldn't get CMs at all...until yesterday! We will be doing breakfast (last few trips was dinner), which is fine with us.

Our two favorite character meals are Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare (dinner). I think both have excellent character interaction and would have give 1900 Park Fare the edge for better food...although I don't think Chef Mickey's is bad at all. Park Fare has strawberry soup! :thumbsup2

My vote is for breakfast. Overall our character interaction has always been much better in the morning, and it's hard to ruin breakfast. They've ruined dinner for me on more than one occasion. The fact that breakfast, while expensive, is cheaper than dinner makes it an added bonus for us.

We prefer breakfast there for food and only choose dinner if it's our "Welcome to Disney World" first night celebration meal. Then it really doesn't matter what it tastes like, we're too pumped to care, LOL!

We definitely love breakfast at Chef Mickey's! We arrive usually by mid-morning and it's a great way to kick off our vacation! Have a great time!

Kimberly-Hey! Fellow SC here! We're only an hour away from you in Latta! We're going in December too, but later in the month! Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks everyone, great feedback! :thumbsup2
DH is now thinking we should do dinner as it will be our last night - sort of a grand finale thing, but we have a couple of days to think it over before ADR day.

I think it is a great way to start a MK day. You see lots of characters, fill up on good food, and are close to the park! I have never done dinner there, but have done breakfast twice

My vote would be for breakfast. We went for dinner and I thought the food was good, but my parents just went again in March and are not picky at all and really disliked the dinner. I think breakfast is safer!

We usually go to dinner there, but are going to try breakfast this August for the first time. Dinner wasn't too great the last time we went. But we do love getting to see the fab5!

Based on so many negative comments about Chef Mickey, I cancelled our reservations. My friend went and said the characters don't spend hardly anytime at the tables, the food is not good, etc. I've heard this over and over again and that is why I cancelled.

For a character breakfast I would go into a park. It's basically the same food no matter where you eat. And you are in the park early instead of paying the bill at a resort.

I've had dinner at CM and will again. I though the food was good. The only problem was the kids pizza was not fully sliced and the spatula to serve it was not good for cutting. My son liked it and wanted more. Despite the tough crust, I tried a slice and it was better than frozen pizza cooked in my over.

Maybe schedule it later in your trip if your children are younger and not used to characters - might be a bit overwhelming the first day.

We enjoyed the character meals we did later in our trip as we got a bit more clued up - camera out, book open, don't be afraid to speak to the character - oh goofy can we get a photo of you with DD and daddy - your'e his favourite. etc
