I've been reading such poor reviews about Chef Mickey's for dinner lately. This is our first trip to Disney and we are staying at the CR, so I thought it would be a nice, convenient dinner after a long day at MK. Should we just eat at the Wave and save Mickey for breakfast (reviews seem to be higher for breakfast, though we're not major breakfast buffet people!)

I love the food at CM for dinner, and as an adult who travels solo, it's not like I have to go there to please a child who just wants to meet Mickey. ;)

We've made CM for dinner a tradition on all our trips, for as long as I can remember. We've also always stayed at CR so, like you said, it is extremely convenient to walk there from a day at MK or head to dinner after a pool break or rest in your room to freshen up before dinner. The food is pretty decent (the dessert is really good!), and the character interaction is great. We also really like the "Celebrate with Mickey Mouse" song that plays - everyone twirls their napkin around and the characters come dance with everyone, it's a lot of fun! I did the breakfast here on a recent trip and actually found myself preferring the dinner, probably because a dinner here best matches the lively mood and atmosphere of CM... I had a little trouble getting in a napkin twirling mood that early in the morning without coffee first :)

Everyone's experience/opinion is different, but we have eaten at Chef Mickeys many times over the years and have always had positive experiences as both the food and character interaction have always been great.

Not to cause any problems but asking someone yes or no on dining will quickly give you a 50 50 split. In January I made ADRs and I asked for opinions on Tonys in km and was quickly told to never go there but we sucked it up and were pleasantly surprised, my steak was cooked nicely and DHs seafood pasta dish was just fine and we had great service and loved the atmosphere.

I stick to asking for suggestions but no longer ask yes or no on dining or anything for that matter because everyone is entitled to their opinion.

We are set to try CM for dinner in November and are hoping for a good meal and some character interactions...after all nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Have only had good meals at CM have gone for both breakfast and dinner. Only problems being were they place the bathrooms down stairs

Yeah, I've seen plenty of bad reviews of places I love, especially Chef Mickey's. And some people just don't like buffets at all.

Chef Mickey is our traditional arrival night dinner! It just makes me feel like we are finally in Disney. The food has always been good, tasty, right temp, plentiful. The characters are wonderful! Very attentive and spent alot of time with each table, every time we have been. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

We LOVED Chef Mickey's for dinner. The food was fine, and there were several things I'd say were good/great! I Even found myself looking to see if someone cancelled so we could go back though we didn't as we decided we'd experience something different rather than repeating!

I see a lot of bad reviews for CM but for a place with such bad reviews its always crowded and hard to get ressies, so it can't be that bad. We go every time our kids love it. I could care less about me and my dh. Its average food

It's buffet food, not bad just not great. We're going there for my son's birthday dinner in November, we have a blast there and don't expect superior dining. It's fun, we like the food just fine, I don't care if no one else likes it. :upsidedow Someone likes it since it's so hard to get an adr there. :thumbsup2

We are another family that does CM on every trip! Buffets are a great option for us and we enjoy the characters.

Ditto!
We go mainly for the characters, but are usually more than satisfied with the food quality and service.

Chef Mickey's has gotten bad dinner reviews for years...they probably just seem more prevalent now that you have an upcoming trip and so you're more focused on it!

We had dinner there a couple of years ago that I almost cancelled because of the poor reviews. I decided to stick with it, and we weren't disappointed. It is buffet food, so it's nothing spectacular, but it's decent and better than some of the other buffets on property.

I feel like if someone had an abysmal experience, they are more likely to write about it. There are lots of other people who go and have a great time. Just my opinion :)
