Tell me about Chef Mickeys dinner. We want to kick off our vacation with a surprise character meal for our kiddies. DH would prefer the fab 5, so we thought this venue was appropriate. Tell me about the food, service, character interaction, noice level, etc. Thanks!!

Though I've seen a number of poor reviews, we've always enjoyed CM's for breakfast or dinner. Usual buffet fare and service, maybe a bit noisy, but you are there for a fun time so I've never understood those criticisms. We've found our character interactions to be fine, never rushed. Overall, it's my kid's favorite place.

We had breakfast there last year-11 of us-6 adults 5 children. Been going to Disney for 30 years now,and have on occasion had some poor meals. This one was the VERY WORST EVER!!! The reservation was for 10a.m. at 10.15 they stopped cooking all sorts of foods, and began cleaning down stations-by this time we were still waiting for 6 coffee cups!! actually am still waiting! our server was dire! the characters only once made it to our seating section-they were waylaid by children at tables at the front and obviously the "time" ran out and off they went! The food that remained available was very poor quality and the server never once collected used dishes or brought the much needed coffee or juice! The final nail in the coffin was when we settled the check and complained to managment we refused to leave a 18% tip and only left 10%,the server then came out of the restaurant as we walked to the gift shop to argue with us!!! that it was company policy to tip 18% on parties larger than 6!!! My SIL dealt-politely-with her and we left.NEVER AGAIN.I can however recommend Cape May Cafe. Enjoy

For some reason there are a lot of poor reviews for Chef Mickey's on the board.

Personally, we go to Chef Mickey's every time we are @ WDW and have a blast. It is a fun atmosphere....all the main players (Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto) are there! The food is your typical buffet food...nothing too extraordinary. American cuisine---salads, pizza, make your own sundaes (which are great!). And as for noise level...I would say it is noisy...but I think that is what you would expect at a restaurant that caters to young kids. Nothing obnoxious though.

I think the experience is fun and getting pics with all of the characters without having to race all around the parks can't be beat!!!

I say go for it!

We really liked Chef Mickey's. The food was good and the noise not to bad. We did eat an early dinner, about 5pm.
I would say that as the night goes on things could go down hill, but I would definitely do CM again and I wouldn't let others bad reviews keep me away.

It is a perfect place to see the characters and have a nice dinner.

My vote is for Chef Mickey's as well. We try to always kick off our WDW vacations here. My kids love the dessert buffet and the "party like" atmosphere. Our character interactions have always been great. As a parent, I like going to Chef Mickey's at the start of vacation so we don't have to wait in line to meet these important characters when we see them in the park. We already had dinner at Mickey's restaurant!

My family and I have had dinner there a few times and never had any problems with their food, service from the Cast Members and the character interaction was great.

I'll take the bait and offer some criticism. I will never return to Chef Mickey's for dinner. I found the food quality well below average, with some items on the buffet bordering on inedible. The character interaction was acceptable, but nothing special compared to other character meals I have tried and enjoyed. I think the biggest issue is the noise. The place is so loud and crazy that it is difficult to talk across a small table.

I recognize that Chef Mickey's strives to have a fun, wild atmosphere. So does 'Ohana and Whispering Canyon Cafe, among others. The difference is those places seem to have found a way to control the chaos. Chef Mickey's was a zoo with no locks on the cages.

There are too many restaurants in Disney I like to bother with one I don't. For character dinners, I recommend Garden Grill.

We did Chef Mickeys for our "kick off our vacation" dinner this past Dec.
The service was fine, the food was 'meh'..nothing terrible, nothing memorable. It was very loud (which is to be expected;)). The characters were fun but very rushed.
It wasn't a terrible meal....but we won't be going back anytime soon.

We have had Chef Mickey's for breakfast and didn't care for it. I do want to try it for dinner though. I'm not one to nix a restaurant completely based on one meal or service.

We had an early dinner there 2 years ago. The food was fair, the character interaction was o.k., but I found that it wasn't very clean and it was really loud. I think the noise is mostly because it is so open. I say give it a try. Alot of people really like it, maybe we just hit it on a bad night. I'm glad we tried it, but we won't go back. We really like Crystal Palace.

We did Chef Mickeys for our final meal on our Thanksgiving trip and loved it. It was loud but I diden't think it was horribly so. We really enjoyed the food here. The soups were good. I asked for thick slices of prime rib (which was nice and moist) and with mashed potatoes and veggies it was a good dinner. The kids liked the sundaes, I enjoyed the fruit tarts and cheesecakes. The only desert I wasen't too fond of was the oreo mickeys. The mouse was good but it made the oreos soggy. Character interaction and service was good. When my son missed Pluto (we were at the buffet) the waitress had him come back around and see us. I think we saw most of the characters more than once. I would defintaley recomend Chef Mickeys if your looking for a good meal with the fab 5.
