Any good or not? We love Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare for dinner, did not like H&Vine for dinner at all. How does CM compare to any of these other buffets?
It looks like it will come down to either Crystal Palace for dinner... or Chef Mickey's for dinner.

Not concerned about the characters - asking food-wise only!

I'm pretty picky, basic eater - give me prime rib, mashed potatos, lots of rolls and butter, some chicken, basic pasta, ribs or pulled pork and I'm good!

We LOVE the food at Chef Mickey's!!!!!! Eat there every trip. Except for pork/ribs they have every food you mentioned. Just can't say for sure they have pork/ ribs. HIGHLY recommend it!!

We LOVE Chef Mickey's!! The food is great.. all the classic chracters plus who doesnt want to watch the monorail as you eat!!!!:)

We ate there 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely disgusting. The food (except for the salad and desserts) was terrible, so bad that my MIL threw up 2-3 hours after eating there. We are not picky either. The floors were so dirty that my DH didn't even want to eat there. We will never go to Chef Mickey's for dinner again. We love Crystal Palace and we like 1900 Park Fare, both of which we also ate at 2 weeks ago.

We have always enjoyed Chef Mickey's for dinner. Never had a bad experience there happy to say! I think all the buffets at WDW have those nights where it just all sort of falls apart and sadly I think that above poster got one of those nights at Chef Mickey's :sad2:. We had that happen at Crystal Palace once and thankfully have since returned and enjoyed many great meals there.

I like to eat at Chef Mickey's either very early or late. But my kids are older and can eat dinner after 8:00 p.m. It just seems a bit quieter then and our experience has always been they keep that buffet restocked the whole evening. Not sure how old your kids are though. I think Chef Mickey's is very comparable to Crystal Palace as far as selection of items, 1900 has all those stations and may have a bit more variety. I like all three, but have to say, Chef Mickey's is special to me. We ate our first ever WDW meal there for my son's 10th birthday and its never disappointed!

For the record, Hollywood and Vine is my least favorite buffet at WDW, Chef Mickey's for us has always been heads and above that one!

Going for the first week of free dining.. perhaps those that have already made ressies for earlier in that week would know?
Do CM or WCC open as early as 4:30 for dinner? thanks!

1900 PF, H&V and Chef Mickeys (all three were dinners) are the worst meals we have ever had at WDW and would not go back to any of them.

Chef Mickeys breakfast was awesome tho

Unless they have different hours for free dining, both CM and WCC start serving dinner at 5:00. And you can count me as a Chef Mickey's fan! :thumbsup2:

I believe for free dining in 2008 Chef Mickey's might have opened at 4:30 PM because of the bigger crowds. However even if that's true it does not mean they will do that for free dining in 2009, so we got to wait and see what happens.

I liked Chef Mickey's for the character interaction, but the night we were there the food really wasn't great. The salads and cold foods were good, but the meat, potatoes, gravy, etc. were all cold. The desserts were also good. What made up for all of it was the look on my niece's face when Mickey and Minnie arrived at our table.

I also think that during Free Dining, Chef Mickey's serves lunch too to accomodate all those people eating for free (lucky folks).

This was the first ADR I booked when I called yesterday at 7:00am. We always eat here for dinner, and the food is great. We always go early, not sure if that makes a difference with the freshness of what is out, but we always enjoy it.
