Chef Mickey's dinner or Cape May breakfast?

We are going to eliminate some of our ADRs and these are the only two character meals we have booked. We've been to Chef Mickey's every trip on our arrival night so I think maybe I'm reluctant to cancel for nostalgia sake even though I know it's not the greatest anymore :) But, after driving about 5 hours that day, sometimes it's hard to drag myself out to dinner!

We've never been to Cape May or visited Beach Club so part of me is excited to try something new (and saving a little money with the price difference doesn't hurt either)

Which would you keep?

Years ago, Chef Mickey's was the very first character meal (breakfast) that we took our kids to and we had a great time. This year we tried Cape May for breakfast and thought the food was much better. It was actually great. Unfortunately the characters were just so so. Minnie, Goofy, and Donald dressed in beach attire. Not a whole lot of interaction going on, but we sure did eat a lot. I don't know the difference in price between the two resaurants, but I always thought they were pretty similar. After our rather lame character experience at Cape, we kind of felt like we over paid.

I have the exact same decision to make, but I'm on the dining plan. This is our first trip. We have Minnie's Holiday Dine at Hollywood and Vine and are staying at the Beach Club, so I'm leaning towards dropping Chef Mickey's. I know a lot of people on here have repeatedly said to drop Chef Mickey's, but I know some people who have really enjoyed it and it does seem like classic Disney. I might end up paying out of pocket and doing both, since I can't decide. I'm following to see everyone's advice.

If a fun atmosphere (monorails overhead) and character interaction is your primary goal, then go with Chef Mickey's. If food quality is more important, Cape May wins by a large margin.

We really like Chef Mickeys! I like the upbeat atmosphere and the classic characters. The food was not grand but ok, which is how most of our meals were. However we go on the dining plan, but if paying out of pocket then Cape May would almost be half the price, so then I would choose that one.

It would be a harder decision if you were talking both breakfasts but I'm not a fan of most dinner buffets (Boma and Cape May excluded) so this is an easy one for me...keep Cape May for sure!

i've never been to Chef Mickeys, but we did do the Cape May character breakfast last October. It's a beautiful resort and we loved the sand and beach outside. The food was okay, no complaints, lots of choices. But we really loved the character interaction. It was my little cousin's birthday and she was in heaven. In the time we were there, about an hour, she got to meet every character. They were so sweet to her and we took tons of pictures. i also saw the characters being very attentive to all the other guests, young and old. Staff was very helpful and would bring a character over if you were leaving soon and didn't have a chance to see one of them. i highly recommend Cape May.

I've never been to Chef Mickey's. But, we LOVE Cape May breakfast. It's our "send off" meal on our last day.

Keep Cape May! Good buffet and interaction with characters are great!!
