Chef Mickey's Brunch: Has anyone gone recently? Is it any better than the initial reviews?

We booked it for our final day. ME will pick us up from the Poly around 6:30pm but I don't know that a 5pm dinner adr will work for us.

We did chef mickeys brunch last June and loved it! We were immediately seated! And just happened to get a table up the steps that had a MK view! I prefer breakfast buffets, but my kids dont, so brunch is the only one we will do! I cant remember all that I had, but I remember basically trying everything from the breakfast side! I didnt eat alot of the lunch items, but I do remember trying the chicken salad, and it was yummy! My girls ate several helpings of the mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. They also loved that there was soft serve ice cream, and all the desserts were great! The character interaction was brief (autograph, pic, move along etc) but I think thats standard for character meals? Somehow Mickey skipped our table, but a cast member was more than willing to help us out. She actually took us to him and we took a pic near the front of the restaurant vs him coming back to us, but it all worked out!

We had brunch there last week. It was fine - not good or great, just fine. Of all of the places that we ate (CRT, Ca Grill, Ohana, BOG Beaches and Cream and Casey's), it was my least favorite. It was, however, my daughter's favorite. We did it for her, but won't be going back.

Some of the reasons for my position - it was the only restaurant to be running behind and seat us late. Ohana - which has a terrible reputation for keeping you waiting - took us 30 minutes early. It was somewhat chaotic - mostly because of parents not controlling their kids. The food was fine - not fine dining, but tasty enough. It was better than the BOG food. The characters interactions were...not the best. They had a lot of people to see in short time, and it showed. I have also never been as aware of the heaps of germs and other goop on characters. They were smeared with syrup and who knows what else when they got to us. Also, I am not going to spin a napkin over my head. That was dumb and also resulted in quite a bit of flying food. The windows were filthy on the outside. Here is your view.... dirty and moldy. The wait staff makes a killing in tips, but I am fairly certain that they are around Denny's level of competent.

We spent more there than we did at Ca Grill, so it was not the best value.

Part of my lack of enthusiasm is that we are all small eaters and buffets are lost on us.

CRT is more expensive, but was a fantastic experience. That one was money well spent.

We had Chef Mickey's brunch on the last day of our November trip with four kids ages 2,4,13 & 15. They all said they liked Hollywood & Vine Dinner better food-wise, so if you have to choose between the two, I would go with H&V. Chef Mickey's is definitely more geared toward the younger crowd, my 2 year old LOVED it. I had the salmon and cheesy potatoes as well as some other things and I didn't think it was bad.
