Chef Mickey's...Breakfast or Dinner?

I am on the fence about which CM ADR to keep: dinner on our arrival night, or breakfast on our departure day? If using dining credits, I see the dinner being the better value, but I've heard so many awful things about the food and service at dinner, that I'm not sure if paying OOP would be the better choice for dinner. Thoughts? TIA!

Everyone's opinion/experience is different, but we have done both breakfast and dinner many times over the years and have never had a bad experience. We enjoy both meals equally, but I would go for dinner if you are using DDP credits.

Breakfast, no doubt.

I would honestly take free park snacks over a free dinner at Chef Mickey's.
It's hard to mess up breakfast and despite my suggestion, it should be noted that Chef Mickey's consistently is rated as the least favorite of all buffet character locations.

While I can't speak on dinner at CM, because we have never done it, I can NOT endorse CM for breakfast. We have had breakfast there 3 times in the past and each experience was progressively worse than the last. :scared::crazy2::faint:

We've done both many times, and would say breakfast is better. This time we are going to try the brunch. I don't really worry about value when on the dining plan, just what we like better. ( plus we always get free dining, so value doesn't matter)

Thanks to all posters for their input. Is it really worth it in any case if we don't mind meeting the characters elsewhere? We already have several character meals (5) planned in addition to numerous meet and greets in our touring plans. I guess I'm asking is there anything particularly special about the CM experience we won't be getting anywhere else?

Nope.
From what I and many others have found (check Rusty's reviews), Chef Mickey's has the least quality food and service. Even at breakfast, we've found the replenishment to be very slow and a disconnect from staff as if they're become content with the place being hectic and serving mainly as a signature/photo-op place more than a restaurant.

For all of the traditional characters and wanting a buffet, I would do Tusker House.

We absolutely love TH. If there's nothing extraordinary about CM, I think we are gonna choose the DTD ADR at RR. If the service at CM is lackadaisical and the food less than mediocre, maybe it's something we can miss.

For anyone that can make the comparison, food and service wise, how does it relate to CP?

Crystal Palace is one of our favorites to get an early start to our MK day. Food replenishment has always been quick, character rotation was always a decent speed and the breakfast food has always been decent. The only issue we've found is that their ADR seating is always behind a good 20-30 mins at times. Hopefully someone can post in regards to dinner.

We went to Chef Mickey's dinner 2 years ago with our 2 daughters and although the food wasn't over the top good- your typical buffet food, my daughters had a great experience. Goofy danced the hot dog dance for them (something they still talk about) and it was a great arrival day dinner since we do not go to any parks they were still able to enjoy some characters. We are scheduled to go again this August for our arrival day dinner and my girls can't wait!

I have never had the dinner at Chef Mickey's, but my family always enjoys breakfast. This year we are doing brunch.

If your going for character interaction then pick your poison (literally, LOL). If your asking which is better food wise, breakfast or dinner, then my answer would be neither. CM in my opinion when it comes to food is miserable and is your typical cater style premade buffet food for the masses.

We just went on Thursday for breakfast on our last day. It was our first, and only, Mickey waffles which were a must! It was also the only place we did pics with the Fab 4 plus Minnie. We skipped the lines for those characters in the parks knowing we were going to see them at the restaurant. We enjoyed our meal very much and it was a great way to kick off our last day!

We have done both & I prefer breakfast to dinner, though both were fine. If you are already seeing the same characters at another meal, you could skip it.
