Hi all, I am stomped - my fam def wants to do Chef Mickeys but I don't know which to pick.. breakfast or dinner. Which is your family favorite and why? Thanks!

Have never been for dinner or lunch, but in 7 trips, the CM breakfast is a must for our family. Classic, classic Disney.

We have done both. Both are fine. We just like a big breakfast so I usually pick buffets for breakfast.

We're having dinner there the day we arrive and Mother's Day Brunch the last day we're there. Going to watch this post!! =)

After an early entry morning at MK - we love Chef Mickeys for an 11 AM ADR
Perfect timing :goodvibes

We get to MK around 7:30 am and do a bunch of rides. We have a little less than 3 hours to run around. Then we monorail it to CR by 10:20 AM. We arrive at CR anywhere from 10:35 to10:45 AM.
The food at Chef Mickey's is always fresh.
Sometimes we miss a character. Mickey was gone one morning, you never know.

Breakfast, no question. In terms of food quality, it's a lot tougher for Chef Mickey's lackluster kitchen to ruin eggs and waffles than prime rib and grilled seafood. But beyond that, there's just something charming and nostalgic about a character breakfast in the Contemporary as the monorail glides by. Maybe I've watched too many Disney advertisements over the years, but I think all of us have a recollection from some point in our lives of riding the express monorail through the hotel, seeing people in the restaurant below and thinking, "That looks like so much fun."

We have done both, and both are pretty good. To me, breakfast is just breakfast, so I prefer dinner, however, we will be going there for breakfast for our last meal in Disney.

Not really a big breakfast eater, so I always prefer dinner to breakfast. Dinner here is pretty good!

I haven't done either but we want to do breakfast, but not early in the morning. I am thinking more of a brunch, 10:30 or so. That way we could get a snack for breakfast, then basically have an early lunch. We all love breakfast food (mmm bacon :woohoo:)but I don't think I could stomach a buffet first thing in the morning or trying to get 3 adults and 3 kids who don't like getting out of bed up, dressed and out the door for a 8 am breakfast.

This would be our only sit down meal of our trip since we will have QSDP and pay for this OOP.

I just want to make sure I see Mickey and if there is bacon and eggs etc. involved, all the better! :thumbsup2

Oh, yes I do remember when my children were young and we made our first trip to WDW riding through on the monorail and seeing ALL the fun they were having with the characters and thinking... if only.

Fastforward, nearly thirty years later, and we finally did it! And, it was fun! And, we will be going again this summer. While the food might not have been the best, the experience makes up for it. We will have a much earlier dinner reservation this time and that should help too!

Enjoy! Karen

I thought dinner was much better then the breakfast I had there.

Thank you, I am going to keep this poll open.. I love hearing all the great things about Chef Mickey's... I just can't wait to eat there :)

We've tried both breakfast and dinner. My entire family enjoyed breakfast better. The food at breakfast is pretty good. The food at dinner on the other hand, well, not so much. It tasted like a bunch of frozen meal food heated up. We had an early reservation (5:10) just after it opened for dinner and the food was still not what I would consider hot. It was okay; it just lacked something. My girls (3 & 7) enjoyed breakfast better too. I think it's because there was a lot of options that appealed to them (Mickey waffles, yogurt, fruit, bacon, etc.). Then how fun is it to top off your meal w/ a donut or a brownie? I would NEVER let my kids eat a brownie for breakfast so they think it's fun to get to do that at Disney. The atmosphere & character interaction at breakfast and dinner were about the same. I think my girls also enjoyed the breakfast better because they had fun interacting w/ the characters and swinging their napkins w/ Mickey's party (a little fun thing they do during the meal) and getting all excited just before we headed off to a park; it was a fun way to start their day. Then they carried the excitement all throughout the day. We've tried Chef Mickey's for breakfast three times. We tried it for the first time for dinner this past summer. I thought it would be a great way to kick off our trip on the first day. Since my girls loved it so much for breakfast, I thought it would be perfect for the first night. My girls still enjoyed it and didn't complain a bit. I was really disappointed, though. Very let down to say the least. We also had breakfast at CM that same trip. When asked if they preferred dinner or breakfast, they both said breakfast w/out hesitation. So for us, breakfast is a keeper but we won't be doing dinner again at CM.

I am not a big breakfast person, so I prefer their dinner.

CM is my sons favorite place. ( me... not the best.. but keep in mind I have a cheese allergy and a lot of their foods have cheese..... their mashed potatoes are my kids favorite.. they have parm and their ravioli).

I do like their carving station..

We do breakfast just because its pretty hard to mess it up. We have had dinner there and it was nothing special.

We prefer the dinner there, it is a better value as well imo. Plus if your at the MK park that day you can walk over for dinner, have a couple of adult beverages with dinner, then head back to MK. It is a nice oasis in a dry MK lol. ;)

Yes to breakfast at CM - not a big fan of dinner at CM.

BREAKFAST!!! Why:confused3 b/c dinner was probably the worst meal I've ever eaten at WDW from the food perspective. I still think it's an awesome character experience, but something is wrong when the only thing on the dinner buffet that was "finish it all -good" was the mashed potatoes...and trust me- we tried EVERYTHING looking for something decent. I probably would have gotten a snack on our way back to the hotel if we didn't have an early morning breakfast to think about.
