Hi all,

Dd will be celebrating 8th birthday. I have arranged dinner for Chef Mickey's and am considering the birthday cake. Who brings out the cake? Is it in the shape of Mickey himself? I guess what I'm really asking is, do they do anything special for birthday boy/girl?

We were just there on my dd's 9th b-day in early January, and it was a fun place to celebrate. The characters seemed to pay special attention to her, especially Dale, who couldn't seem to get enough of her, and Goofy, who sat at our table and did funny things with her (put his finger in the icing on her cupcake and spread it on her nose and his nose, for example). We did not order a special cake, as there were only 3 of us, but they did bring out an iced cupcake (chocolate with white icing) with lots of Mickey sprinkles, and when we arrived, they gave her a special placemat with signatures from all of the characters present (laminated--a good souvenier).

At the table next to us, a family was celebrating an adult's birthday, and they had ordered a cake. From what I could tell, the cake was a round one--vanilla icing, I think. I'm not sure what was on it, but it looked like a pretty standard birthday cake.

Hope you all have a great birthday celebration!

We went to Chef Mickey's for my son's birthday and the cake had a picture of Mickey on it and confetti decorations. The restaurant announced that there was someone special eating in the restaurant and everyone waived their napkins and sang Happy Birthday. Mickey and Goofy came running out of the kitchen to give hugs to DS. He loved it. He also got the placemat.

we made ADRs for Chef Mickey for my dd's 7th bday. I req'd a bday cake and the CM on the phone told me about the cupcake and said we didn't need the cake. I still went ahead and ordered it. She was right- the cake was a waste- there are plenty of desserts and since they make a nice spectacle of Mickey bringing around the birthday cupcakes- that would have been more than enough.

Agreed. We were there in October 2004 for our twins' 5th birthday and the cupcakes were a hit! They also loved the placemats... we still have them! Planning a trip for for October and will do the same for thier 7th birthday.

I have a question on this topic. My youngest will turn 3 a couple weeks before we go, and he such a huge Mickey fan we were going to see if we could find something special for a belated birthday suprise. How much does the cupcake cost/placement and how would one go about something like that...thanks

The cupcake and placemat cost nothing extra (aside from what the meal costs). Simply tell the CM when you are making your ADR that you will be celebrating your son's 3rd birthday, and they'll take it from there.

We seem to have had a bit of a different experience than others with regard to the cupcake. Our server brought it out rather hastily and plunked it down quickly at my dd's place. No Mickey, no particular fuss surrounding the cupcake or her birthday. Now, when the characters made it around to our table, they made a fuss over her, but the presentation of the cupcake was nothing special. That was just our experience, though, as I gather from reading these posts! I wanted to let you all know that, though, so that you're expectations are lowered, and then if things are different for you than they were for us, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

:)

I have already made our adr's, is it a big deal if I call and add that on?

Thanks for your help, my son is such a mickey fan I think to have something extra for him there would be great.
