Chef Mickeys before MNSSHP?

I was wondering if it could be a good idea to go to Chef Mickeys before MNSSHP provided I could get a 5-5:30pm seating. The menu at LTT isn't going to be right for everyone in our party and I did want the kids to have a proper meal before the party.
Would we feel like fools going to Chef Mickeys in costume or should we change after? Did anyone else do this for the party?

You won't be out of place. There will be people everywhere with costumes on; at meals, on the buses, on the monorail etc...

We ate before MVMCP once at Chef Mickey's. Nice way to start the night.

We actually ate at Concourse Steakhouse right next door to CM's prior to MNSSHP - as long as your dinner reservation is early enough (I would go for 5-5:30) you should be fine. My DD3 & DS4 were dressed up and many others were too so you will definitely NOT feel out of place at Chef Mickeys. Timing worked out great (our ADR was 5:30) so you will have plenty of time for dinner and MNSSHP. Another place to check out if you are concerned about timing would be Crystal Palace - another buffet this one with Pooh characters but at least you would already be in the MK. I know my concern was traveling into MK after dinner - would it be too late?? - but it wasn't too late. Just another option. I know people have reported getting into MK as early as 4:30-5:00 with just the party passes so you could make a reservation at CP for 5:00 and then walk outside to the party.
