I really had my heart set on doing Chef Mickey's for our first day at WDW, but the only time that I can get is 9:00 P.M. It will be just me and my DS3. I am not very concerned with the late hour as my baby is a little night owl and we are scheduled to arrive very early in the day, so he can take a late afternoon nap.

I am concerned with the possibility of old/cold food and tired crabby characters. Has anyone been there for a 9:00 ressie? Am I better off trying my luck elsewhere?

I understand your feelings, last August, for my Grandson's 2nd B-day party I booked Chef Mickey's only time I could get was 9(something)pm, and I was also very concerned about the late hour w/a toddler, but I tell you it worked out better than we could have ever imagined. That place looks exactly the same (busy) at any hour-late-early, doesn't matter. Food is not fantastic to begin with but it was hot, there was plenty of it - character were just as friendly as breakfast, worked out fine. I think you'll do fine. Actually it worked out perfectly because we caught "WISHES" from an observation deck on the opposite side of Chef Mickey's right after dinner that made the night absolutely magical. Go for it.

We had an 8:45 pm ressie one trip and it actually worked out great! There were fewer diners at that point and we we able to have way more one on one time with the characters than usual. The chracters were even coming around in one big group and so we were able to get great group photos. They were also more playful and just goofing around because it wasn't as crowded.

This was Labor Day week of September of 2002...when crowds were very, very low still and before Free Dining began to bring more people in at that time. So that may have been a reason too. But it was nice being there that late!

I have a 9:15pm on our arrival day for Ohana and am thinking like you! Hopefully it will be okay for you, my friends and I did an 8:30 last spring break and it was still pretty crazy at that time as well as when we were leaving. Good luck!
