how busy will it be at 7:20 am? Will it be really crowded already? Going in early January...also what time should I leave POP to get there?

7:20am will be a great time to get there. It shouldn"t be too busy yet, usually not until 7:30-8:00a are they packed. If you are driving to CR then I would allow 1/2 hour, if your taking WDW bus allow about 1-1 1/2 hrs :sad1:because of the transfers. Have a GREAT VACA>
:dance3::woohoo::rotfl::cool1:

I agree. We LOVE the early one. There is little to no wait to be seated, everything is fresh out, servers are just starting their day (so no previous people have had the opportunity to be nasty to them)...! It is really great. Then you can pop straight across to MK and will probably be there when the park opens! Congratulations on getting a great time for a great restaurant! :woohoo:

Oh, I just saw your question at the end. There are buses that start at 6.15 (more or less) every morning. I understand that these buses are specifically for guests with early reservations. There will be a MK bus to the resort. I always check at the front desk the night before to confirm the time of the first bus and then make sure I am waiting for it. The driver often takes you right into the Contemporary, depending on who else has to be dropped off where. Bottom line, you will have plenty of time if you just make sure you are ready for that first bus. You get the best part of the day like that - not many others around to share it though, so peacefulness is an added extra! ENJOY!

The last time we ate at Chef Mickey's our reservation time was at 7:15. I didn't really want to have to get up that early, but I'm glad that we kept the reservation! There was not too much of a line to check in and were at our table about 10-15 minutes after checking in. It wasn't too backed up at that time, and the characters were on their first rotation, which made everything move like clockwork and we didn't have to wait long at all between characters nor did we miss any. I was also able to walk right up to the buffet each time I went up there. After eating, we walked right over to MK for the rope drop - it was perfect timing!

We had less than a 5 minute wait at 7:45 AM, so I imagine 7:20 would be pretty much the same or better.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the absolutely beautiful sunrise over Bay Lake that greets you upon check in!

We ALWAYS do the earliest seating possible. Sure you need to get up early BUT as PPs said, you get in quickly, food is fresher and it's not as crowded as it will be come the time you are ready to leave o shortly there after. It's vactaion yes, but I like to think I can sleep at home, I'm going b*lls to the wall in FL! :thumbsup2

I'm very excited about my 7:00AM reservation at Chef Mickey's. Rope drop is very important to us, but I really wanted to have breakfast here too.

I've never even seen a rope drop because I'm always at the early meals. It works out for someone that has anxiety around large crowds! :thumbsup2 I've only even been at 2 parks just before they open. So far, I've been happy as a clam! Maybe because I don't know what I'm missing but the 2 times I was at a park before it opened, one person got nasty w/ me thinking I was butting in line (which I wasn't) and the other was just wall to wall people and I couldn't see any of the pre-opening show. Nope, happy to eat early! ENJOY!!!! :rotfl:

We love the early one, too! We like to try to do that toward the beginning of our trip if at all possible, too, because we find that we don't have near as much energy as we thought we did the further along in the trip we get! It doesn't matter, though. It's worth getting up early for Disney World!!
