What are peoples experiences with Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare for Dinner? Although my DW and I had Breakfast at both of the restaurants last year, this will be the first Disney trip for our two DSs aged 4 and 2 1/2. How do they compare at Dinner time?

My family has eaten at both of these places for dinner. They are both buffets with characters. At Chef Mickeys there are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. At 1900 Park Fare there are Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and both the Stepsisters. I have boys and girs. My son was not interested in the characters at 1900 Park Fare but my daughter loved them. Both of my kids enjoyed Chef Mickeys. The character interaction at both are very good. I do think the food at 1900 Park Fare was a little better than Chef Mickeys both in variety and quality. They both had childrens buffets so my kids were fine with the food at both. The Strawberry soup at 1900 is the best!!!!

Thank you for the reply. Was the energy different at dinner vs. breakfast? My DW is concerned. For example, At our breakfast last year at Chef Mickey's there were lots of noisy happy children. My DW's fear is that after a long day at the park, there might be noisy unhappy/tired children. What was your experience?

No I thought they were both positive experiences. They are both very hectic places, but for the most part the kids were still very happy and I think the characters may have something to do with that.

My family and I have been to Chef Mickey's a few times for dinner and each time it's been a great experience and the character interaction was amazing.

IMO your sons would like Chef Mickey's better.

One thing I would do too is ask to be seated in the main dining room at CM's. It's an energetic atmosphere that little boys love. You and DW must try CM's soup of the day. It's always delish.

We took a 3 and 10 year old to dinner there, the character interaction was great but all four of us thought the food was horrible.

We are going to try 1900 PF for dinner next week.

I haven't eaten at 1900 Parkfare, but have had dinner at Chef Mickey's twice. We loved it. It definately won't be a quiet, relaxing dinner if that is what your DW is looking for, you won't get it at Chef Mickey's. That said, it is a wonderful character buffet. The food at the buffet is very good and offers a wide variety from salmon to pasta. The characters are wonderful. It is very much like being at a big party. Especially when you have to swing your napkin along to the music. The kids loved being able to make their own dessert concoction with cookies, and candies and all sorts of sugary treats. I think it is a wonderful, magical experience that any child would love to participate in.pixiedust:

Your wife is correct that children (and parents) are more likely to be irritable at dinner after a park day than at breakfast where they are still fresh. Now, that would apply to dinner not just the characer dinners. So if you think your kids will be up to it go for it.

Our 6yo loved Chef Mickey's at breakfast and we'll go for dinner next time. He wasn't a whiny irritable kid at any of our dinners (Boma after an afternoon at AK, Hollywood & Vine after a full park day, Narcoossee's on arrival day). Honestly, I don't recall any whiny irritating kids at our meals. At Boma he made friends with a little girl from the UK and at H&V the cutest 2yo was very flirty with my Mom. :rotfl:

The characters were very funny at Park Fare but I thought the food was the worst we had. DH agreed and he'll eat anything. Chef Mickey's is our favorite character dinner.

This is my DH after he told this stepsister that he likes red heads.

My DD with Lady Tremaine. She told her to act like a princess and hold out her dress. My DD was a little nervous, but DH and I thought it was kind of funny. (Yes, we are the kind of people who laugh at the pain of others. Just kidding!)

Been to both for dinner...SOOOO enjoyed 1900 PF more!!! The food was good--about the same as CM, BUT the interaction on the stepmother and sisters MADE the meal. This was our last meal at WDW and a great way to go...since we had to go :(

The character interaction is great at both locations, but my family enjoys the food more at 1900.

Young boys will most likely have a little more fun at Chef Mickey's. My son was not amused with the wicked step-mother and sisters no matter how much fun the rest of my family had with them.
