My DD is trying to make reservations for Chef Mickey's in May. Unfortunetly there is nothing available. :guilty: The person on the reservation line said they do not take walk-ins. The last time we were there we walked in four times. Is this a new policy or are they just saying this on the phone to try to limit the walk-ins. My DS wants Chef Mickey SOOOO BAD

The dining plan has made it much harder to walk up and get a table. The popular places are filled with people on the dining plan who have ADR's. Did the dining plan exist the last time you were there?

Maybe someone has had recent experience with a walk-up but I have seen other posts about not being able to get an ADR at CM.

We tried to walk up in October and it didn't work. We had been able to do it before the dining plan started and it worked.

Good luck.

Tell your DD to keep calling...everyday if possible. Sometimes things loosen up as you get closer. Good luck!!

I just booked Chef Mickey's for 5/20 over the phone this morning, so maybe it's just the specific day you're looking for? Definitely keep trying every day because you never know if something might become available. Good luck!!

When we were there last Sept and also in Dec they were turning away walk ups.

We have seen them turning away people as well. Actually more of the restaurants on property are turning away people now. ADR's are becoming critical.

We were at Teppenyaki in EPCOT last Oct., and while waiting to be seated, a group of 4 adults asked about dinner. The hostess asked if they had a reservation, when they said they didn't she very politely told them they need one and that nothing was available. My TA said that's why Disney extended the ADR period to 180 days instead of 90, the dining plan has become very popular.

We got in at Chef Mickey's in September as a walk in. It seems to be a mattter of luck--we called and were told nothing was available, but when we walked up there was no line and no one waiting. We were seated within 5 minutes.

When we left, there was a huge line of people waiting to check in. I really think that we just "lucked out" with the timing, and would suggest ADRs. We have also seen walk-ups turned away.

We were there last November -- after the free dining plan was over -- and saw walk-ups turned away at Chef Mickeys and other places. Fortunately, we had an ADR.

I just cancelled a Chef Mickey breakfast on May 29th at 7:50 AM.

You can try, but it may not happen. I think the CM said that to not get your hopes up of a walk-in. I can see it now (not you but someone), "The CM on the phone told me I could do a walk-in and now I want my reservation."

Walk-in's for dinner are a bit easier. Get there at 4:45, and ask for a table. They only hold ADR's for 15 minutes, so anyone who doesn't show for their 5:00pm ADR by 5:15 will lose it and they will seat you.

Don't show up at 6:30 without an ADR--you MUST get there before they open.

I don't think the 4:45 trick will work anymore either. We stayed at the Contemporary 8/05 and 12/05 and both times we tried a walk up since we were staying at the Contemporary and both times they said it's their policy to no longer accept walk ups. Luckily we had ADRs for other nights as my daughter would have been heartbroken. When we walked up on our 8/05 trip, she was decked out in her Minnie dress and accessories and they still turned us away. Prior to 8/05, we never had a problem with walk ups when staying at the Contemporary.

I agree. We always did walkups at the 4:45 time and it always worked for us. Not so on our trip last year. The dining plan has changed all that.
