Chef Mickey Table for Three--Can this be true?

We are a family of 3 (until we become 4 in October) and the only time I have been able to book Chef Mickey's for breakfast was when I called right at my 180-day mark for a trip that we then had to cancel. I just got off the phone with Disney Dining and the CM told me that there are only one or two tables for three in the restaurant and that when I call to book for three, they won't put me at a table for 4 even if that is available. Now, I can understand not putting a family of 3 at a table for 8, but not putting us at a table for 4 seems unreasonable, especially if there are only one or two 3-person tables in the whole place. If it is true, I guess I'll have to wait until we actually are 4!

I hope this isn't true because I had planned on trying to reserve a table for three for my upcoming trip.

You didn't hear this from us, but some people reserve a table for 4 and then only show up with three. :rolleyes1

Call back and reserve for four. When you get there, tell them someone got sick so you'll be three instead.

They don't like to dead-head any seat. God FORBID a chair sit empty when they could get someone to pay for it. :scared1:

Actually they are triangles. At least at the Crystal Palace. I agree. Book a table for 4 and tell them someone got sick. What can they do to you? The whole disney system is a little annoying. I was actually talking to my mom the other day and said wouldn't it be nice if you were just one or two and they would let you sit at someone elses table like at a B&B. They could really cram the people in that way. Oh well, I guess we all have to be that perfect group of four.

We have eaten at CM many times and we are (and will probably always be:) ) a party of 3 - I've never heard of anything like this before - and we made our ADR's (one at CM) last month. I'd ring back and speak to a different Cast Member.

It happnes all the time. I just started planning for my May trip yesterday. Called up to get a Tusker House breakfast for two - unavailable. Said they didn't have any and I checked 3 days of our trip.

Called back today, still unavailable. Hung up, called back and asked for a table for four and they had several available on my 1st choice day.

Will wonders never cease?

Disney simply doesn't like to dead-head their tables when they figure they will get another party that pays for each seat.

Wow! Triangle tables, really? I don't understand why they would even put a triangle shaped table for three in a restaurant...it wouldn't take up any less space. And it is a lot less ususable. We had 5 people during our February trip and we always sat at a table for 6 with one extra seat. If another CM can't help you, definitely tell them you have four in your party. Good luck!:thumbsup2

That is so like Disney. They want to make sue they get that last $28 for the fourth seat. Who cares if families of 3 are discriminated against.

When something is THAT ridiculous, you should not feel bad at all for calling and making a reservation for 4. "Yes, We are Smith, ressie for 4, but only 3 of us could make it"

We are a party of 3. I tried to book Chef Mickey's for dinner for our upcoming trip for 3 solid weeks without success. The Cast Member I spoke with said a party of 3 takes a table for 4. Then I asked for a party of 5 and bingo! That did it. We were able to reserve a table.

Have eaten at Chef Mickey's several times. We are a family of 3, yet to have a triangular table! We are always sat at a table for four. I guess they only allow a limited amount of 3's to take these up.

If you need the extra body, so you don't feel like you are doing something bad, I volunteer. I'm really charitable like that. I know how to use a napkin and everything.

I have an ADR at Chef M's for September. I originally booked it as a party of 3. Recently called back to change it to a party of 4 because my DS decided to go along. The CM told me it couldn't be changed because we were at a table for 3. I'd have to cancel and rebook. I found that so strange because I was able to change pretty much all the others from 3 to 4 without rebooking. Chef M's seems to have some strange policies. I asked the CM if the table was a triangle, LOL, because I have never seen a triangular table at Chef M's but couldn't figure out how it could only seat three any other way. We laughed about it, she said she had no idea, but the computer was telling her we were at a 3-top table. :confused3

About the third time I tried to book it, the CM told me there were only a limited number of tables for 5. Did I have anyone else I could bring to make it 6? Well, I went ahead and booked it for 6. Anyone know what happens when I cancel the 6th person? :rolleyes1 (Obivously far enough out to get a refund back, but will they cancel the whole reservation?)

have been to Chef Mickey twice, once with 4 people once with 2 people, I don't remember seeing tables for 3. But I did just make a ressie for Chef Mickey for September with 3 people and had no problem.
Last time I went to Crystal Palace had a ressie for 2 sat at a table for 4 no problem

Hmm, we were there on Sept. 1st and I had no problem booking for 3, in fact had numerous opening to choose from.
