We have an early resevation, can we park at the contempory and after we hav finished walk though to MK for the Morning or will I have to move the car. We plan on leaving at 12.30 1pm latest for after noon naps..

I don't want to cause a problem

You are not supposed to park at a resort you're not staying at while in the theme parks. You can park there for the purpose of dining at the resort, but you shouldn't leave your car there after your meal. You would need to move it.

Since that would take a long time, if you're staying on site, I would recommend taking the bus. You can ride the bus form your resort to the MK, and it's a 10 minute walk over to the CR to go to Chef Mickey's. Then you can just walk back to MK after breakfast.

You could probably valet at the resort and go over for a bit after eating without any problem. Valet is 12 dollars (plus tip). Valet is free if you have a handicap placard.
Disney park lot parking is 14.
If you are a resort guest, parking is free at all the parks.
If you are dining there and going over for a lil bit I don't think there is any issue really.(most resorts that pass out parking permits for free self-parking, limit it to 4 hours) Just hop on the monorail inside the resort and you will get the nice tour around bay lake and be dropped off at the door of MK.

We had a similar scenario a few years back where we had a 7-30am breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey. From memory I think there was a four hour limit on the parking.

After breakfast, we headed to MK to see rope drop etc. After a couple of hours I walked back to Contemporary to drive the car back to BCV, before taking bus back to MK to meet up with the others as we wanted to spend most of the day in the park.

In your case, (depending on the time of your reservation) you might be ok with the time limit. Disney being Disney, I can't see it being an issue if you run slightly over.

I disagree, there is an issue, and this is a hot topic here on the DIS.
The resort parking lots nearest theme parks are NOT INTENDED for theme park parking. There are posted signs saying this. They are not big enough. The problem is for the paying guests of those resorts, who have a right to find a parking space at their hotel. The lots can fill up and that is not fair to the paying resort guests.
If you have an ADR you are issued a 3 hour parking pass to eat and visit the resort. After you are finished at the resort you are supposed to move your car.
The suggestion to Valet Park is also a good one. If you Valet Park you can stay as long as you want.
You will read here of folks who have done what you suggest successfully in the past. Disney's enforcement of their rule is sporadic and usually only during times of Peak attendance. That however, does not justify breaking the rules.
Have a Great Trip

The only way you can leave your car parked at the Contemporary is if you valet park, because that way you won't effect any guests staying there who have self parked and leaving those spots available for them.

Also note that once you've paid for valet for that day, you can use valet at other resorts without having to pay again (you will still need to tip). So, if you valet at CR and then drive back to your resort, you could opt to valet it again. Just note that valet fees role at midnight (so if you leave your car in valet overnight, you'll need to pay another $12 when you pick it up).

Is parking at MK and then walking to Contemporary an option? not sure how early your ADR is...

The TTC is the parking lot for the MK. I wouldn't suggest walking to CR. You can park at the TTC and take the Resort Monorail to the CR.

Yeah you could do the monorail, or take the ferry in and then walk to Contemporary. Monorail would make more sense though. At least by parking at TTC it eliminates having to do valet or moving your car.

Thank you for your help. I think I will valet park to save me worrying (it will be me and by 2 little DS's) we are staying off site, and would like to have a little look round the resort / christmas decoration before breakfast. My next question is......if i arrive at 7.30am will they valet park for me or is that too early, i that case we have beakfast then drive to the TTC

Since you are staying off-site, paying to valet park is the best idea. You would have to pay to park at the TTC in any case. As long as you are valet parked, you can go off to the MK and enjoy yourselves.

If OP pays to valet the car at CR and then heads to an offsite hotel for a midday break, wouldn't he then have to pay to park at the TTC if he comes back to MK after naptime?:confused3 If you pay to park at TTC in the morning then you can get back to TTC (or any other park of choice) for free later in the day.

no, OP will NOT have to pay again...valet parking is good for the entire day, at any of the valet-service hotels. Just keep your receipt...come back after the nap break and valet park again for the price of a $2 tip. This works at ANY of the valet-service hotels...we have done this many, many times. You can even pay to valet at one hotel in the morning (like Contemporary for Chef Mickey) and then go to a different valet-service hotel (like the Polynesian for Kona Cafe dinner) and the rate you paid in the morning covers the evening parking too. You should pay a tip in the evening ($2) But for the convenience we think it's worth it.

It seems like it would still be cheaper to pay to park at the TTC if OP will be returning to MK, when you factor in dual tips for the valet service. Also, if going to a different park after the midday break, it would be more of a hassle to find a nearby resort to park at when you could just park your car where you want to actually be.:rotfl:

This is why I always stay on site and use the buses. I don't have to worry about driving anywhere and forgetting where I parked the car. I have a hard enough time remembering where I parked when I go to the mall!:lmao:

Good point! If you tip $2.00 each time, your total oop cost is $16.00 where as your cost to park at TTC is only $14.00.
