Chef Mickey or Donalds Safari?

We did both CM and TH last week and TH was our favorite. I thought the food was better (although I did like the breakfast pizza at CM), the buffet was more open, and the character interaction was more fun. We had a later ressie at 10:30 and it worked out great. The late ressie left us as some of the last people in the dining room when Goofy came by and we had some great interaction with him.

We had our map out when he came by and he helped us plan the next few things to do by circling three things that we should do (Kilamanjaro Safari, EE, and the Jungle Trek).

I thought both places were loud, TH maybe a little more so. We did 5 character meals last week and if you forced me to pick just one for our next visit, it would be Tusker House.

I don't think you can really go wrong either way.

I am trying to find the price for the Donald Safari Breakfast and I can't seem to find it.

Does anyone know the price for adults/kids?

This was posted on Allearsnet.com as of May 2009. It may have increased since then.

COST: $20.23 (10+) and $11.71 (3-9)
Price includes tax but NOT gratuity

Seasonal Pricing 5/24/09 - 7/12/09
Adult $24.49; Child $13.84

Donald's Safari!!! It is our favorite character breakfast. The food is so fresh and good! We also love the character interaction! They also serve the amazing Jungle Juice, it is out of this world. We used to like Chef Mickey's, but the last time we went there, it was horrible. The food was not as good as it used to be, and the service was awful. I know that can happen from time to time, but we enjoy Donald's Safari so much that we have no desire to return to Chef Mickey's anytime soon.

My family loved eating at Tusker House for breakfast. We ate their for the first time in 2009. The ham and cheese fritta's are excellent. That is our favorite. We are going back this August.
We had an early adr. When we finished breakfast we got to go on Safari ride first thing. It was great. All the animals were out and really moving around.

If you can get one of the early Tusker House breakfast times (8am), this gets you to the back of the park right around park opening. This is great for snagging the first fastpasses of the day and hitting the rides before the bulk of the rope drop crowd has made it to the Tree yet. We always enjoy our breakfasts there.

We recently went to TH and thought the breakfast was horrible. The character interaction was great, but the food was lousy and it was super crowded-I think there was a large tour group booked so it made the experience totally chaotic.

Our best breakfast (in terms of taste) was at the Liberty Tree Tavern. The food was fabulous!

We ate dinner at Chef Mickey's and it was ok. The character interaction was not as good as TH, but the food was better, way better-but not great.

We can do a 8:30am reservation on a Wed. or a 10:00 reservation on a Tuesday. I'm wondering which one is better! I've heard both now that later is good for character interaction, and earlier is better for the park! Did you still get a lot of character interaction in the earlier times? Is 8:30 good?

How do they know you have a reservation when you get to the park - do you have to show them something? Just curious - I'm not sure where this is in the park?

Those prices seem better than Chef Mickey - or is that just me?

Oh, thats too bad. Everytime we do the breakfast there we have a great experience and love the food...

Breakfast at Chef Mickey's in my opinion is better than dinner

I would do the 8:30am.
We had an 8:05 am reservation in Dec and the character interaction was fabulous (as was the food and service).
There is a special entrance at the gate to your right. There are CM's with clipboards that you need to check in with. You give them your name and ADR# and time and they will let you in the park. :)

I have read conflicting reports on Minnie being at TH breakfast. Is she there consistently? We have dinner reservations at CM and breakfast at TH. We do not want both and are trying to decide which one to cancel.

Tusker house...great food, fun character, decent interaction.
Will Never go back to Chef Mickeys. Food boring, characters took Way to long to get to table..waitress was Horrible with a capital H...and characters rushed..not happy at all.

We ate breakfast at TH and dinner at CM in Dec. I would DEFINATELY keep TH. :)
We had eaten breakfast at TH the past 3 trips and Minnie has always been there (along with Mickey, Goofy and Daisy). The only thing that changed was the first 2 trips Donald also came to the tables, but now he is only outside for pictures.

Chef Mickey's is all about location. IMO it isn't the best character meal by a longshot but it has the MK view going for it. When we were there in Sept we were not impressed with the buffet, Cape May has a much larger one, but the characters are fun. I have never heard anything bad about TH so I would go there. (in fact we have an adr there in 2weeks :))

Ok - thanks to your reviews, I am keeping TH at 10am. I'm keeping the 10am because the other day is a "extra magic hour" at AK and we want to avoid AK on that day. :) Plus, the night before, we are going to be up late at MK watching fireworks, so I want to not have to get up super early - so this will be a relaxing day for us! :) I *hope* 10am is a good time - do you think I should make it 10:30? Just curious. :) We could almost make it a lunch haha! :)

I did TH in 2008 and we had a 10:05 reservation. We did the picture and everything and were seated and all by 10:20ish. The food was AWESOME and the character interaction was great. Since it was the end of breakfast they came around a few times. We were very happy!

We did CM's breakfast this time and really enjoyed it too. But TH gets an edge.

Is Mickey at the donald safari? I need to find a breakfast with mickey, & from reading the reviews chef mickey doesnt seem too great.

Yes. Mickey is at the Tusker House breakfast. I believe he is also at the Cape May breakfast at the Beach Club. :)

I think of all the places I have eaten at Disney World Chef Mickey's is the worst.

My vote is for Donald's Safari Breakfast. It has been excellent every year!:goodvibes
