Chef Mickey - no PS

We will be a WDW Feb 22-28. It was kind of a short-notice trip and I was unable to get a PS for Chef Mickey for dinner. Has anyone just gone without a PS? How long of a wait is it usually? Any opinions on if we should show up early, maybe 5:30 or later? I was going to just skip it, but my DS8 seems to have his heart set on it! I've called several times looking for cancellations, but no luck yet. There are no tables available for breakfast either. Thanks so much for your help!

We took a last minute trip last March & were unable to get a PS before we left for WDW, too. Once checked into the Contemporary I went up to Chef Mickey's where they have a phone that connects you to Disney Dining - we were able to get a PS for breakfast the next morning. If you can't get a PS before your trip - don't panic - we have always had pretty good luck getting them once we arrive. HTH!

i dont think it is that big of a problem...i would try to call maybe a week before you leave and then the day you get there....and just keep calling....im sure they are bound to have an open spot or a cancel or something.....

We walked up to Chef Mickey's last February around 5pm and were quoted a 20 minute wait. I don't even think it was that long...but long enough to hang out with Donald for a while. We got a great table and had a nice experience.

(It was perfect for us, an early dinner after naps and then head to MK til 11pm!)

If you can get there early, like right when they open then you will be seated quickly, esp if you beat the people that have the PS's already since they only get the first "available" seating for their party. I would be there 15 minutes earlier like 4:45 and put your name in then. I bet you will be seated by 5 or shortly after.

WOW Carrie" that doesnt sound very fair. You mean to tell me that I have a PS for a 6:20 dinner...if someone comes in as a walk in at 6:15 they will get my table before me??

I tried to book chef mickey dinner for our trip any night april 6-13. There was no available slot except like 8:30 one night. I did talk to the ds and no one wants to eat that late. I know its the height of easter season so I dont know if I would have any luck walking up at 5 p.m. and wanting a table of 5. We have been there before so its not too much of a big deal if we dont get it, just figuring out if we should try this or not. I know tables of 5 are a little difficult. I would even take 2 and 3 not together. Any insight.

They do put aside a certain % of tables for walk-ups so you may want to try it! We made a PS for the Concorse Steak house for dinner on a recent trip when we couldn't get the PS for Chef Mickey's . We figured if they could take us as a walk-up then we lucked out and if not, we had a back up at a good resturaunt right next door as a back up.

As it turned out, they were able to take us with no problem. Just a 15min. wait -- so we walked over and canceled our PS for the Concorse Steakhouse in person and had a great dinner at Chef Mickey's.

It didn't seem overly busy either considering that they had absolutely no PS left when trying to book over the phone vs. doing the walk-up and it was 6pm.

So my advice is to try the walk-up, just have a back up plan in case you can't get in because they're too busy. But you may be pleasantly surprised! Good luck!
