Last year we ate at CM's for lunch during free dining. The menu was similar to dinner but a bit more limited. I don't really care for the food there (not just lunch but any meal) but the interaction and service are good. If you or your kids really want to eat at CM's, lunch is fine.
I asked this same question a couple of weeks ago and only one person responded stating that the lunch menu is about the same as the dinner menu, but maybe a bit more limited. I guess that we'll find out in a couple of months!
They have opened lunch service again for free dining in Sept, and I ask about the times because since it isn't a regular thing it isn't officially posted anywhere that I can find. I'm hoping that someone who has been might know.
It's been two or three years since we did the CM lunch during FD. Back then, the carved meats were not offered for lunch, maybe one or two entrees. Desserts, salads, sides, other entrees were the same as dinner. Of course, Disney being Disney, I would not rely on this information from a few years ago to be exact for the 2009 FD season.
They do open Chef Mickey for lunch during busy times to compensate for the free disney dining. Lunch is more limited than dinner and really the worst time to eat at Disney as far as we're concerned. The food at Chef Mickey is terrible but it's one of the only places to see Mickey. We prefer breakfast. On a side note, if you like bacon for breakfast you should only go to 1900 Park Fare. Every other restaurant is serving precooked bacon - yuk!
I assume they still have to close between breakfast and lunch, to set out the new entrees. Breakfast has usually ended at 11:30. Anyone know what time they are opening up for lunch?

How do the other buffet restaurants that serve B, L and D handle it? Do they close between each meal and set out new entrees, or are they open continuously and just start putting out new entrees at the appointed time?
