Hi,
I am a newbie. This will be our first trip to Disney. I booked Chef Mickey character breakfast for 7:40 on Sunday morning.

What should I expect?

What time should I arrive? (the bus says to plan for 1.5 hours trip to the breakfast) We are staying a Disney All Star Movie, it looks a little far, but 1.5 hours?

Can I bring Video and digital camera?

How much should I expect to spend? (we only bought the quick dining plan)
This will be our only Character meal.

How long should I expect the breakfast to last?

Is it a one time trip to the buffet?

Can I call reservations to have these questions answered?

Thanks, I may have booked prematurely.....but oh well.

You should expect some food that will be pretty much ok, but also pretty standard breakfast fare, and you should expect a lot of characters traipsing through. There is a menu here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=55

I'd say plan to get there by 7:30. There will not be a bus going directly from your resort to the Contemporary, so you will have to get to MK or the TTC and then get transportation from there (resort monorail) over to the Contemporary. Or walk from the MK bus dropoff. It's a quick walk from MK; probably only a little longer than the walk to the resort monorail from the bus dropoff.

You can bring any recording device you want with you. At least for dinner, there is also family photo taken before you enter the restaurant with a statue of Mickey. You can choose to purchase this picture if you wish.

Prices are $26.62 for adults, $13.99 for kids. The buffet is all you care to eat, so breakfast can last as long as you want. Well, until they put out lunch, if it's being served while you're there. The characters will probably make the rounds, IIRC, about twice an hour.

From my perspective, it is never to early to book an ADR you want.

The reason they tell you to leave so early is that sometimes the wait for the bus is forever!! You could easily wait an hour for a 10 minute bus ride.

I love Chef Mickeys. We will be going there for this trip for one of our Character breakfasts. When we went in 2006, even our inlaws were up dancing and waving their napkins.

I have a ton of pictures from that day. I am sure you can take video too.

The food was delish. You can go as many times as you want. I wanna say it lasted a little over an hour?? That part I can't remember. But I never had the feeling of being rushed.

I have no idea what it costs. I do the DDP.

have a great time!

What is TTC, I've seen this mentioned before.

Can you put this pic on your photopass as well as can you take more pics w/ the characters on your photopass?

Sorry the TTC is the Ticket and Transportation Center. It's the parking area for Magic Kingdom and provides access to buses, monorails, and the Ferry.

The picture with the statue may be Photo-Passable, but I have never tried it. I doubt it, as it is an add-on that the restaurant takes, prints, and presents to you as you are eating your meal. These are the only Disney photographers I've seen in the restaurant, so there are no opportunities that I have encountered where a Disney photographer will take pictures of you with the characters to put on your Photopass. I have seen the characters take around a good many pictures with the guests at the table if they desired, but they are steered by handlers to make sure everyone gets an opportunity. You will just have to rely on your own camera(s).

How can you get to Chef mickey from Polynesian? do you have to take a long monorail ride?

Photo is not photo-passable
they make you buy it on the spot, something like $30! we got sucked into it,
you can take your own pic as well

Expect to be there for an hour and we find it quite loud and boisterous, even that early in the AM!

We eat breakfast at Chef Mickey's on every trip. I have found that the early morning transportation is not very reliable. We have found that it is much less stressful to spring for a cab. If you take a cab, you do not have to allow so much time for transporation and can get that extra (and usually very needed) little bit of sleep :cloud9:

The buffet is really good and in all the times I have eaten there we have never been rushed.

A big DUHHHHHHHHHHHH on my part. Never thought of getting a CAB!!! :rotfl:

We are staying at the Contemporary this time so I won't have the bus issues.

We go to Chef Mickeys every time we visit! We love breakfast. The best advice probably is to skip the picture (if they don't pressure you too much) and then you'll get seated quickly. You can take your own pics and pass on the $30 it costs. For a family of five (2 adults, 3 kids) it was about $130.00 or so. Have fun :)

You may want to upgrade your quick service dining plan if you plan to eat many character meals. It really adds up, and they are included on the next dining plan up(name?). We are going in December, my DD will be very excited.

Just a heads up that there is confirmation from other board members that Chef Mickey's no longer has Mickey walking around the restaurant for photos.

You are now lead to get your photo taken with Mickey and can purchase those photos for $30 after your meal. (just in case this alters your decision to go to Chef Mickey's)
