We have a Chef Mickey dinner PS booked for our second day in Disney and I would love to heard feedback on people's experience and the characters that were there and the interation with the characters.

We enjoyed the dinner our last trip and have it scheduled this year as well. You get a family picture taken before you are seated and then they try to sell it to you during the meal. We bought ours and now am glad we did. It is a nice memory of the trip. Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pluto, and Goofy were all in attendance moving through the restaurant. Donald Duck greeted guests up front just past the buffet. We really liked the food and wonderful deserts.

We went to CM in May and were very dissapointed. The food was not very good, although the desserts were, and the interaction with the characters was rushed. This restaurant is getting run down and needs a little sprucing up! I highly recommend Crystal Palace. Clean, great interaction with characters and really good food. Whatever you decide, enjoy!

As you can see you will get varying opinions on this subject. We did CM for our 1st night there in May. After reading some of the posts, I was not expecting much for the food, I figured we were paying for the atmosphere. Let me cliafy that my Dh and I are not "fine dining" kind or people but neither are we the Sillzer buffet (no offiense to those that may be) kind of people either. We ususally eat at moderate restaurants or family frilendly places.
We were PLEASANTLY surprised. We thought the food was REALLY good and the characters were not rushed at all.
We would make this a must do from now on, espcially for our first day...it really gets you into the magic of Disney!!
Enjoy!! :earsgirl:

We went to Chef Mickey's for dinner the last of April. We ere very disappointed, and would not go back-- even if it was free.

In our experience, the Character interaction was good and it was a fun and festive atmosphere for the kids. However, the food was average bordering on BLAH. The Character breakfast has much better food.

Would I go again? Probably, because the kids really enjoyed it! ::MickeyMo

We just got back from WDW and ate at Chef Mickey's for dinner after a long day at the Magic Kingdom. I thought the food was good. They had some good variety in the selections. You could have cocktail shrimp, cod, prime rib, and parmesian mashed potatoes with your meal like I did :) The dessert selection is good and we all liked the ice cream. It is a little bit pricey, but I would like to share something regarding that. If anyone has had the gastric bypass weight loss surgery, you should consider calling ahead and ask to be charged for a child rather than adult. Anyone who knows about the surgery knows you cannot eat a lot. All my wife had to do was bring the surgery card the doctor gave her.

As for the characters, they were great. We did meet Chip and Dale (separately), Minnie, Mickey, and Goofy during the meal and Donald Duck afterwards in the lobby. One thing you might want to do is scope out where you are sitting, notice the direction in which the characters move, and get your food before they get close to your table. Otherwise, you will get skipped over and have to wait until they make the next round like we did. My wife and niece had a habit of disappearing right before a character showed up. I had to quickly pull her from the ice cream line so that she could meet Chef Mickey! Overall, I do recommend this restaurant. Seating is plentiful, but I still recommend calling ahead to book your times.

Chef Mickeys's was great. We went last June for dinner. It was very crowded, but we were seated in 5-10 minutes. We had lots of fun w/the characters. Mickey, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Minnie, Donald. FYI-They take your pic before you are seated & then bring it to your table for possible purchase. We bought ours because it was good. Good character interaction, food was OK but not great. Parmasean mashed potatoes & ice cream/dessert bar were the best part of the meal. We'd go again.

I'm glad to hear some good reviews because I've just made our AR for CM on Sunday 9/4. Someone had posted here on the boards that they like to go the 1st night to get in the "Disney spirit" and my princess: princess: are both excited.

We have done CM for both breakfast and dinner and much preferred the breakfast. The food was better quality. The dinner was just BLAH, the place was messy and it was a zoo. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

We thought the food was just OK. And this was at dinner, after we had spent a long day in the parks. The characters were fun -- Donald greeted everyone at the entrance (how he places the autograph book on his bill in order to see/write cracks me up!), and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale were all in attendance. It does get rather crowded though, and Goofy missed some tables, and when a dad called him back (rather rudely, I thought), he was very good-natured about it. Our girls had a great time with the characters, but the food was not spectacular at all. Interestingly enough, a lot of people don't like Crystal Palace, and both dh and I really enjoyed that place at lunchtime. So to each his own, I guess. If you have kids though, Chef Mickey's is a must at least once, IMO.

We ate there on the first night of our trip on May 30th. The food was ok if you realize it is buffet food and buffet food is not easy to get tasting good. The prime rib was VERY good the night we were there, the rest was ok. It was crowded and very noisy so, if you want a quite meal, this isn't it. If you want to go to a place where kids are crying, running around and are totally in AWE of Mickey and all the characters, this is the place. It was fun to see the little ones get SOOOOO excited when Mickey came up to their table (our kids weren't that interested in the characters other then an autograph and a picture).

I'd like to hear more reviews! My family had breakfast there on the last trip and it was pretty good, but this year we decided to try dinner on our first night there!

We have a DS 5 and DD 4. We did Chef Mickey's on our last night. We absolutely loved it!! We are going to do it again next year. We also bought our Chef Mickey's photo and I am so glad we did! (The first photo my DS had his eyes closed, we had them retake it.)

We were greeted by Donald Duck. Mickey, Chip, Dale and Goffy were in the dining room. They all came around twice while we were there. The food was really quite good for a buffet. I don't eat meat and still had plenty of choices. The kids loved the make your own sundae bar.

You will love it. I promise. :Pinkbounc

I think the dinner at Chef Mickey's varies greatly if you have an early seating versus late. We didn't have such a great experience the first time we went - we had a later seating. However, the next time we went and had the first seating and it was GREAT. The food was fresher and the character interaction was much more relaxed.

We ate dinner there on our last visit, and loved it. This was DW2B 2nd visit and my first. The service & food was wonderful. I think the character interaction was the best part of the meal. We got so many great pictures. Donald was in the interior lobby posing for photos. He did not circulate the dinning room except during the napkin song. Funny thing with that was I was trying to videotape the song and wasn't twirling my towel Donald came running up to me put his hand on his hips then took my napkin and started twirling it then gave it back and motioned me to do it. We were cracking up :rotfl2: I tried to explain myself but he didn't want to hear any excuses :rotfl: :rotfl: Later we saw Chip & Dale sneak up on Donald and swat him with a towel on his tail, it was halarious :rotfl2: It was the end of the evening and you could tell the characters were having a blast!! By far the best character meal I've experienced so far.

I thought of something else, we had a great seating location when we went there, just by chance. I don't know if you can request your location and I did not see a layout anyway but we had a room that was behind the buffet and was up a couple steps, it had windows on the outside. There was not that many tables up there (maybe 15 in each of 2 little tooms) and it was great. I had read how loud CM could be but we did not experience that at all.

Anyway, just my thoughts. Maybe someone can find a layout of the restaurant to help define this a little more.
