Used my reservation finder and was able to get a 5:05 reservation for Chef Mickey, but I also have a Brunch reservation for another day. I'm torn and frankly I've heard very mixed reviews on both. We have the dining plan so I'm trying to get bang for the buck too or I would have done just breakfast. We're headed down in 2 weeks so I'll need to make my decision sooner than later. If it matters the dinner is set for the 2nd night we are there and the brunch is for our last day- we leave early the next morning.

Thoughts?

Our very first trip we did dinner. It was just ok. When we went last year i was able to secure a brunch reservation when they were first released. We loved it! I have another brunch reservation for this years trip.

Our daughters really want to do Chef Mickey’s but we are in debate between brunch or dinner. What did you like more about brunch? :)

We've been to both many times. I prefer dinner over breakfast, the parmesan potatoes and salmon are my favorite things on the buffet. Dinner's also a great way to spend a credit on the DDP, a great value.

We don’t have the dp so brunch would save us a few $’s plus we could get some Mickey waffles. But my dh would much prefer dinner. I guess I am curious what major dishes/carving stations does dinner have that brunch does not?

The food is so much better in our opinion. You also have both breakfast and lunch foods to choose from. Everyone seemed to interact more at brunch, idk if it was our imagination or if we interacted more because we were tired from a full day in the parks.

We’ve always been fans of the dinner. The carving station, mashed potatoes, soup and salad plus the dessert offerings have always been quite good to us.

If you have little ones you almost have to do Chef Mickey's. I have been on vacations where we did 12+ character meals on a trip. If you think of Chef Mickey's at dinner as a Golden Corral with characters you will not be surprised. Its not great food but the Fab 5 are the main reason your there anyways.

12+ character meals?? How did that go? Wowsers!

I wouldn't do either, even if you paid me.

If you really want edible food and characters, go to Cape May breakfast.

There is also Tusker House for characters and decent food.

This is my dilemma. After reading the reviews, it’s not really something I want to waste $$ on but I feel like we should do something that involves Mickey on our first day/night. We are staying at the Poly so we could do Ohana breakfast or we could do Chef Mickey or Mickey BBQ for dinner. We also would like to do the Headless Horseman event that night. So, is Chef Mickey a must-do at least one time? It just seems like the atmosphere isnt even that great.

Go to Chef Mickey's with your little ones. You will find something you like there. The parmesan mashed potatoes are awesome. It will be a great experience for them.

To the OP, you don't say whether there are kids in your group, or if this is your first trip or you've been many times before.

Don't assume everyone likes character meets or meals with characters. My kids have been many, many times since toddlers, and they have never gotten into characters. We happened across two character meals over the years, and neither of them was interested in meeting them. Lots of kids aren't into characters, but of course on the flip side, some adults find it entertaining!
