We wanted to try a new place on our next trip to WDW.

Chef deFrance seems pretty good with the dinner menu.

We have a 7:10 PM ADR and EPCOT fireworks are at 9 PM.

How is the food at Chef deFrance ?
We were thinking of the French onion soup and Lobster bisque.
The Mac&Cheese (Gratin de Macaroni) - kids size for our DD.
Plat de Cote de Boeuf au Cabarnet avec pates (Ribs) for our DS
Canard a l' orange, haricot verts et polenta (orange duck) for DW
Lasagnes de legumes du soleil a l'huile d'olive au thym (veggie lasagna) for DH

Are there different rooms/area's to sit in at Chef deFrance ?
Do you recommend an area for our table ?

Thanks! :goodvibes

We had lunch at Chefs in January, and it was very nice. All of us at the table had the salmon and spinach, which was fine. I'd probably order something different next time. I saw the short ribs and they looked delicious! The French bread was absolutely the best thing on our table. We were seated on the back wall of the restaurant, and the tables were quite close together. If we go back, I'd ask for a window seat so I could watch what is going on around World Showcase.

Chefs is usually pretty crowded; requesting a certain table or section may result in delayed seating.

The food is okay; we prefer lunch over dinner. I had the duck once and it was over-cooked. The onion soup is good; I didn't care for the bisque. Have not tried the ribs.

We always eat at Chef de France. Tenderloin Medallions and the Ribs are awesome. I love duck, but have never tried it there due to many complaints I have read. If you go, say Hi to Remy.

We love the food at Chef's. Normally we both order the Prix Fixe Meal -onion soup, roasted chicken and creme brulee. This has become a favorite meal for us and we have visited several times.

Just ate there on Wednesday for lunch.
There are 4 of us, Me, DH, DD16, and DS9. We did not have the dining plan.
We shared the Cheese Board for an App. It was good, and we had fun trying the different cheeses, but it would have been better our server had told us what the different cheeses were. My DS ordered the kids app - cheese in puff pastry that game with a green salad. It was great! I wish something like that was on the adult menu. I had the ham & cheese quiche which was good, but nothing spectacular. My DH had the 1/2 chicken. He really liked it, but it was too much food him for lunch. My DD16 got the Mac&cheese. We all loved that.
The Mac&cheese was not on the kids menu. My son ordered the burger with fries, but ate his sister's mac&cheese instead.

We were too stuffed to try any of the deserts, but they did look yummy.

Over all, we were very happy and would try it again.

We love Chefs. I think we ate there 4 times on our last trip, two lunches and two dinners (we were there for three weeks so had time). I had the french onion soup every time and it was SO good every time. My DS had pasta and it was a huge meal. Everything came on the side, the pene, the sauce and the chicken which was good.

I can't remember what I had for mains every time. I had quiche one day and it was delicious. There are some photos in my TR below of some of the meals and a visit from Remy. One of my mains (the mac and cheese) I found to be a bit bland but the rest of the meals and every body else enjoyed theirs.

Aside from the french onion soup, one of the worst meals I've ever had at Disney. And the service isn't great, either.

I wasn't really hungry the last time we went, so I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich. It was by far the best sandwich I have ever eaten. It was almost worth a trip to Disney to have one now...

DD went there the first time because she wanted to try escargot, and she liked it enough to go back the next time for the escargot again.

The french onion soup is also excellent.

The French Onion Soup is to die for:love::lovestruc:cloud9:

We actually really enjoyed our experience there, the food was good, the server was yummy...I mean helpful and we had quite a nice seat where we weren't crowded!

I've hadfour of the items you listed.

I've had the onion soup and the lobster bisque. I preferred the bisque - very smooth and had lots of pieces of lobster. The onion soup, however, was also very good.

The short ribs were tender and flavorful and came on a bed of pasta.

The duck was disappointing. I prefer duck to be crispy, so I liked the leg confit better than the breast.

Several PPs mentioned Remy, but by the time you're seated he will be finished for the day since his last round begins at 5:20.

I've never requested a specific table/room, but if it's allowed, it might mean waiting longer, so take that into consideration if you want to see IllumiNations. Otherwise, after you finish dinner, you'll need some time to find a viewing spot around the lagoon. While you can see a little bit of the fireworks from some of the window tables at Les Chefs, you won't be able to see most of the show.

We ate here for the first time on Christmas Day last week, part of the CP package. We had a lunch seating, sat out in the "fishbowl" atrium where everyone passing by stopped to stare at the food on the tables. We were on the wall so it wasn't so bad, but I felt for those right next to the windows, I'd have been very uncomfortable with so many people watching every bite I took!

The food was excellent, but way too much for us for lunch. The short ribs were delicious, could have used a little less saltiness but tender and good. My son had the grilled ham and cheese, again it was delicious and huge, came with a salad. The chicken my son had looked great and he liked it. My son did not like his burger but he didn't have any of the toppings put on it. My husband had the quiche and said it was good but he was recovering from a stomach bug and didn't have much of an appetite.

The real standouts were the french onion soup and the desserts. The french onion soup is outstanding, and again a very large portion. The cheese was nicely browned and delicious. My husband had the bisque and seemed to like it although again he wasn't feeling great (and I wasn't about to try his food and catch whatever he had). The creme brûlée was terrific (10X better than what I had at the brown derby the night before, but that's another (sad) story). The crepes were great - my son wanted to lick the plate, and the pastry with ice cream was delicious too (I cannot spell the name of the dessert right now). My youngest got the chocolate cake but looked like he wanted the ice cream instead. I'd go here again and have just the onion soup and dessert.

We paid a lot for this lunch but it was because we were going to CP, so I can't complain. It's worth it to get a great seat for that performance.

I loved my meal at Chefs. The Mac and Cheese is delicious, but is not like the typical American Mac and Cheese. It has different cheeses in it and also has a nutmeg-ish taste. Might not be the best choice if you children are expecting something more similar to Kraft.

We had a great waiter when we went. My dad got the short ribs and loved them, while my Mom got the vegetable lasagne and enjoyed that too.

Food is ok. Some items are better than others (like the lobster bisque) - the rest of your items that we had were just ok, nothing special. I think the best thing we ate was actually the kids cheese puff thing with a salad! I honestly wouldn't go back until they changed the menu or some sort of overhaul.

There are different rooms. We sat in the patio room where you could see people walking along. I'm not sure if you could see Illuminations or how good it would be from the patio room but that would be the only room you could see outside.

I love it! I usually get either the lobster bisque or onion soup. I think both are very good. For an entree I usually get the scallop/shrimp meal. Everything I have had there has been excellent.

I noticed several people mentioned Remy on this thread. He is still there? I thought he had left.

By the way, if it wasn't clear, these is a beef short rib(s), which is VERY different than something like baby back ribs. Just wanted to be sure you knew. :)

Overall, we've eated at CdF twice, and both times we're really enjoyed it. Good food and good service (our waiter last time was brand new, had only been there one week, but warned us, was really friendly, and asked his manager questions when he wasn't sure, all good things). The french onion soup there is excellent, the gruyere cheese they use is perfect. I really like the salmon dish they have, and I forget what my wife had last time, but she really liked it. She had the short rib the first time, which was very good, although she thought the pasta that came with it was a little bland.

We'll definitely go again in November.
