While we're on the subject of food, does anyone have a good cheeseball recipe? I'd like to do one for an appetizer but don't have a Tastefully Simple packet on me.

I have a cheeseball recipe that's been in my family for years.

1 pkg softened cream cheese
2 small cans of Hormel ham, drained (about the size of a can of tuna & in that same section of the store)
1/4 c mayo
1/2 t onion salt
1/2 t parsley
1/4 - 1/2 t tabasco sauce

Mix all ingredients together & enjoy w/crackers!

MMM- sounds good!

This is our family's recipe we've used for a long time:

1 package (8oz) cream cheese
1 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 c. minced onion
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce

chopped pecans or chopped fresh parsley

Place cheeses in small mixing bowl and let soften at room temperature. Add onion and worcestershire and blend at low spped. Beat on medium speed until fluffy, scraping side and bottom of bowl. cover and chill at least 8 hours. Shape into 1 large or 30-36 small balls. Roll in chopped parsley or chopped pecans. Chill 2 hours or until firm.

8 oz. block of cream cheese
8 oz. tub of Wispride port wine
8 oz. tub of Wispride cheddar

bring it all to room temprature and mix together well. place back in the fridge until cold. divide into two sections (eyeball it) and roll them into balls. roll them in either walnuts or pecans or your favorite nut.

I've got one that's a really good.. It's a parmesan garlic cheese ball, I think I got it from Betty Crocker.

2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (In the green Kraft canister, NOT the bag)
2/3 cup finely chopped nuts (I used walnuts)
1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened (I used the 1/3 less fat kind)
Coarsely chopped nuts (I used walnuts)

Stir together all ingredients except coarsely chopped nuts until well blended. Shape into ball; roll in coarsely chopped nuts.
Wrap cheese ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 8 hours but no longer than 48 hours. Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes before serving.

I served it with the reduced fat Wheat Thins...YUM!

Strawberry cheese-nut ring

1 pound medium sharp or sharp cheddar, grated
1 cup finely chopped walnuts, divided
1 cup mayonaise
1/3 cup minced onion
3 to 4 grinds of black pepper
1/2 to 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 cup (or more) strawberry preserves

Mix cheese, half the walnuts, all the mayo and
onion. Add black and cayenne
pepper. Roll into a ball and roll the ball onto
the remaining nuts. Put the
mixture on a serving plate and shape into a flat
topped mound 2-3 inches
high. Make a depression in the center that will
hold the preserves. Serve
with crisp crackers, melba toast or pumpernickle
bread. ENJOY!!!!
