Cheese Soup and Breadsticks

Has anyone walked up and ordered cheese soup and breadsticks at Le Cellier during free dining or pre-Christmas December (or both)? The restaurant sells these to go if they are not busy or if the hostess is willing to help you. I really want some but am afraid they will not take walk up orders if they are too busy.

If this is true, I wish I had known years ago. I can see the op's concern regarding whether or not this is done during free dining periods. The entrance to LeCellier is easily congested when it is busy. I could see why the CM's at LeCellier wouldn't want to hassle with a few soup and breadstick orders.

I have always thought they could sell the cheese soup and breadsticks at snack stand during the cooler months of the year.

If you are lucky enough to be there during the Food & Wine Festival they will be selling the soup. Here's what the Canada booth will be selling (from my listing adapted from the official brochure)

26. CANADA
o Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup;
o Maple and Moosehead Beer glazed Salmon with Barley Salad;
o Chicken Chipotle Sausage with Sweet Corn Polenta
:
o Moosehead Beer;
o Neige Sparkling;
o Neige – FB

And you can use a snack credit for it.

1) That is a big maybe.
2) People have said it has happened.
3) BUT, IT IS VERY RARE.
4) So, plan up it NOT happening, especially during busy times
. . . peak periods
. . . holiday periods
. . . free dining

NOTE: During F&W, they have a separate booth for these.

We actually overhead someone asking this on a previous trip (during May) ... unfortunately they were told "No" ... odds are you'll get the same response during free dining and/or December

I've heard one or two reports of this being possible over all the years I've been on the Dis but the overwhelming response is that it's not possible. WDW restaurants are not equipped for take out.

It is possible. I've seen a few threads were people have done it including this one http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2659741&highlight=le+cellier. I know it is hit or miss but do not think I will get it because of the busy time and free dining. Here's hoping.

Even though we do have a ressie there, i was hoping to do this for a snack. I did see one person get it as I was waiting to be seated I think last year during Free Dining. Guess I probably won't try it. They really should have a cart!

. . . They really should have a cart!

1) At one time, they did have two carts.
. . . beaver tails
. . . soup and pretzels
2) The beaver tails franchise (Beaver Tails Canada Inc) contract ran out.
3) The soup DID NOT sell that well. *
4) Now, both booths are long gone.

* Except at F&W, there just is not that much of
a demand for the cheese soup outside of the eatery.
One might think so, but when offered, it did not sell.

Interesting. I can see where no one would want the soup in the hot months. And while many of us disers know how good the soup is from our meals at LeCellier, I'm sure many WDW guests would simply walk past a cheese soup booth and never give it a second thought.

I have tried MULTIPLE times over a couple different trips..was told No each and every time.It is sad because it is the only thing I enjoyed at Le Cellier..They need a small CS place

My DH, wistfully, last week as we walked past Le Cellier. "Do you think they would just sell me a bowl of soup to go?"

Guess now we know the answer.:sad:

I've had the soup, and it is good, but you're right. There is no way I'm ordering hot soup, especially a heavy cheese soup, in Florida in August. That's heat stroke in a cup, right there.

Agreed. We are going in Decemeber though and some yummy soup would be nice. I had a dinner reservation for Le Cellier (made at the 180 + 7 in my case) point. When they finally released the candlelight processional packages and I noticed Le Cellier was not a partipating restaurant (for dinner). I had to choose between having lunch at Le Cellier under the package and losing our late breakfast ADR too or eating somewhere else and getting the package and keeping our breakfast ADR. The latter won. Hopefully, I can still get some soup earlier or later in that day, so I can have my cake and eat it too, so to speak.
