Avoid staying with these groups at all costs.
I had heard about these groups (cheerleaders, sports teams, etc.) but thought "how bad could it be to stay at the same resort?" Well, unforuntately, I found out in April!
My 10 yr old daughter really wanted to stay at All Star Sports. So, being new to the Dis budget group we agreed, but only if we could book 2 preferred room locations (oldest has a birth defect with his left foot so we wanted a short walk for him). All worked out, we booked the two preferred rooms and paid in full.
We drove down to Disney in April. We arrived a day early so we stayed at a hotel in DTD so we could check into Sports bright and early the next day. We arrived about 7:30 a.m. (we weren't looking to actually get a room, we just wanted to check in to make sure we got our preferred room and hit the parks; luggage stayed in van). When we walked into the lobby, there must have been 1,000 kids there with their luggage in tow. Thankfully we found out they were leaving! Little did we know, our troubles were just beginning....
The lady checking us in put us in a non-preferred room. I told her we booked and paid for a preferred rooms. She said there were none available due to more groups checking in and they would refund the preferred rate. After literally 90 minutes at check-in with the manager, etc. they could do nothing for us. I was in tears but decided to make the best of it. We were placed in the basketball section.
When it was time for bed, we realized how many kids were there. They were so loud! They were throwing landscaping rocks at each other, hitting guest windows, etc. Security responded several times and usually by 1:30 a.m. we were able to get to sleep. It was awful. I don't think they had chaperones and if they did, they weren't around. After night 3, we decided to check out early and go back to the DTD hotel. We couldn't take it anymore. When we went to check out, there were other people also checking out complaining about the lack of supervision for these kids. One older man was actually screaming to the manager telling him to point out the chaperone as he wanted to to speak with him/her directly.
Anyway, sorry this is long...just wanted to advise staying away from the All Stars when teenagers are there. From what I understand, they stay mainly at All Stars (as the hotels are near each other) and not POP.
