Hi All,

This March we will be attending our first cheerleading competition out of state (I will make sure my kids behave :) ).

We are required to stay in the Anaheim Marriott. Since we have a couple of days inbetween practices, how close are we to Disney? From Google Earth - it looks like it is across the street, but is it close to an entrance?

How is the Marriott? Any info would be much appreciated.

It's been years since I've stayed there, but it is fine. I believe it is more of a convention/large hotel, but comfortable (I used to stay there for a big convention). There is a way to walk to DL from it, and the Anaheim Resort Transit runs there, so, yes it is close to DL.

We stayed there once. It was a typical nice Marriott - under normal circumstances quite a lovely hotel. But being it's part of a "Disney vacation", I found no magic at all. We took the ART shuttle (which I find unreliable and kind of expensive) because the walk is just too far. Again, it is a nice Marriott and you and your cheer squad will enjoy, have a great time! :sunny:

P.S. There are also no view rooms, they all look at roads or buildings. We asked for a pool view, but you can't see much of the pool.

I agree that the Marriot is better suited for convention/ business groups.
However, the one time I stayed (Priceline $45 a few years ago) I really enjoyed the hotel.
In the lobby, Starbucks opens early AM for a morning snack :drinking1 , Pizza Hut stays open late for those late night dinners.
Comfy beds, clean rooms. Very nice surroundings.

I have walked from convention center to the park, it's a long walk but the younger people might handle it just fine. We walked to the park in morning and took the ART back.
I've read that you could walk thru the convention center, exit out and cross the street, walk into one of the parking lots for DL, take the tram to park. But not sure on the specifics. :confused3

There is a farmer's fruit stand on Harbor Blvd and Convention Way (or at least it was there a few years ago), fresh fruit and vegies were a nice treat after eating lost of CS meals.
Good selection of food and other sundries at the 7-11 further down Harbor, we would stop there on our morning walk and get water bottles or juice, muffins, crackers for later use in the park.

We stayed there and liked it very well. It's a bit of a hike home from the parks after a long day of walking, so we appreciated the ART service from there.
