We're planning on going to WDW the 1st week in Dec. and someone told me that's when the cheerleaders come for their nationals and stey at the all-stars which is where we want to stay and it might be really crowded. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks. :Pinkbounc

Welcome to the Disboards Colleen. Yes, the PopWarner kids (football players and cheerleaders) are there early in Dec. I know someone has the exact date. Now, I'm sure you are concerned about maurauding bands of teenagers, running around, screaming and cheering late into the night, knocking over everyone they come to, grabbing all the food, shoving past you at the food court!!! Well, I had no such experience with them. I was there in '03 at AllStarMusic as the same time as the kids. Yes, I was a little nervous about it after reading the boards for quite awhile. But, I was quite pleasantly surprised. Yes, there were a lot of teenagers around and some of them were practicing their cheers and such. But, I never had a noise issue at any time of the day or night. The kids did not impact the crowds at the parks since they are competing during the daytime and have some special stuff just for them at night. Yes, they were in the food court. But, they were extremely polite. And if you eat at odd times, rather than those peak hours, you won't have any problem. I didn't even have a problem on the buses with them. So, please don't get to concerned. I suppose some have had different experiences than mine but mine is the only one I can base anything on.

I have not experienced cheerleaders at WDW, but I have at Myrtle Beach SC. Usually around mid to late March there used to be a cheerleading competion in Myrtle Beach. We were there for a car show and encountered a large group of cheerleaders at our hotel. The were very noisy at all times of the day and night. One night they were in the halls dancing to very loud music so I called the front desk and asked for help - where were these kids chaperones? They asked them to stop and to be quite - well they did for about 15 minutes and then just moved to the hall one floor up - I could still hear them just not quite as loud. So I called again. They eventually stopped the loud music and dancing but then a group (not sure if they were the same ones) went out to the pool (which was supposed to be closed) and started yelling and screaming while swimming. Please understand this was an outside pool in March - I remember the temps then were around 40's at night - it was about 10:30 - 11:00 at night. So I called the front desk again. About 30 minutes later they got out of the pool. The next morning I saw the entire group leave - I was so happy!!!

This was about 3 years ago - I hope the kids are under better control at WDW, but you never know. I hope you have a better experience, but if not just call the front desk!!! :smooth:

We have never had any problem at all with the pop warner kids while we have been at the all stars. They are very well behaved.

The only cheerleader problem we have had at the all stars is the national cheerleading competition..those girls are loud, not very well behaved.

Does anyone know what Moderate the Pop Warner kids are staying at? I know they are mostly at the values but heard they usually overflow to one Moderate? We are thinking of POFQ for that week but have toddlers that go to bed early and are hoping for a somewhat quiet environment ;)

I see your dates are thru Dec. 6th. Pop Warner doesn't start until December 4th so you shouldn't really have any trouble. However, I do think that someone mentioned that the overflow often goes to POR and POFQ.

Last year they stayed at POR. I think some may have also been at POFQ.

Apparently there will be a 50% increase in the number of participants this year. I haven't been able to confirm it, but I've heard that it is likely that the Pop Warner kids will be spread out among all of the value resorts and all of the moderate resorts.

As Pop Warner parent, I'll tell you what I know. Our Midget squad made it to Nationals this year, and we were given a choice of hotels. We could either pay for a value or a moderate, it was our choice, not WDW's. Most groups choose the values due to them being cheaper, but of course if there is nothing left, you're stuck with the moderates.

jel0511 -- Do you recall which resorts you were given a choice of choosing from?
And since I'm being nosy:) Where in Jersey are you from?--we're in central NJ, near East Brunswick...
And just out of curiosity (since my little girls are likely future cheerleaders)...what is the kids schedule like when they are down there? Is it all competitions during the day and parks in the evening or do they get entire days free? How long do you stay down there for? Does your squad go to Disney every year or do you have to get selected based on performance?
Thanks for any info!

I'm from the same area!!!! So REALLY close to you. My DD actually didn't go, I'm friendly with the Midgets head coach since her DD also cheered with my DD. Since I wasn't involved, I actually don't remember all the choices, but there were different ones. I also never found out what the schedule was while they were there, so I'm sorry I can't help!!!! As for getting to Nationals, you have to get through THREE seperate competitions before you make it to Nationals. First you have to place in your local event, then place in the state event, then place first or second in the regional event to make it to Nationals. It is really hard to do, and it was a GREAT accomplishment for the girls this year!
