ANOTHER ONE!!!?

I think I might sit this one out! :rotfl:

Whadayamean, ANOTHER ONE?? You mean with the hundreds or thousands of child-oriented threads on the DISboards, that three is too many for the childfree?? Or do you and DH just not have any hobbies?? ;)

Thought I'd give this a *bump*! How is everyone today? :wave2:

 Hello!

Been so busy at work haven't had time to check out the board! :badpc: But now I have about an hour to go before I go home and I've got some free time.

Hope everyone is having a great day! I wish today was Friday though, but we're getting one day closer to going to Disney (88 days and counting!) :woohoo:

This fencesitter needs a little :grouphug: from her child-free friends! Our 4th anniversary just passed and apparently people are through giving us a "grace-period" about waiting to have kids.

I just spoke with a friend who's husband could be heard in the background during our conversation saying "when is she going to drop out of school and have a baby?" :furious: Granted, my friend's DH likes to get my goat, and was half teasing, but the other half of him wasn't teasing at all! This was evident when my friend said "seriously, are you not thinking about having kids yet?" When I told her no, and maybe not ever she said "are you really going to do that to your parents?" *sigh*

Today, I had to deal with an issue with the mother of 2 of my students. She got frustrated with me and (along with lots of other things) indicated that I couldn't possibly understand her feelings b/c I didn't have children of my own. Although she didn't come right out and say it, it was as though she thinks of me as less of a person or not "grown up yet" or mature b/c I haven't given birth. As if one day when I do have kids I will just understand everything and be wise.

*sigh* *sigh* *sigh* Just a little beat down from both these incidents occuring 2 days in a row.

And I'm just a fencesitter! I cannot image what some of you CFers go through on a weekly basis.

Thanks for the support! I love the CF threads.

Why do people say this stuff? A little guilt trip, anyone?

This isn't fair or accurate. I don't understand why society feels we all have to follow the same path. Everyone is different, and should be able to choose their own life.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I'd come up with some clever comebacks:

Q: "are you really going to do that to your parents?"

A: "You mean give them the pleasure and freedom of NEVER having to babysit grandchildren? Damn right I am!"

Q: "You don't have kids, so how can you understand?"

A: "I still know bad parenting/bad kid behavior, etc when I see it. Being childfree doesn't make me deaf, dumb and blind!"

:grouphug: :goodvibes

You'd think it did! :rotfl: Don't you know that we aren't complete human beings since we haven't experienced motherhood? When will we come to our senses and fufill our role as women?

And that's another thing! How come nobody is telling the CF husband that he hasn't fulfilled his role as a man??? How come he isn't a complete human being without a child???

"I still know bad parenting/bad kid behavior, etc when I see it. Being childfree doesn't make me deaf, dumb and blind!"

Oh, I am SO going to remember that one!!! Thank you!

Yep, I don't know what is up with that. DH tries to console me, but he isn't the one who gets picked on. Weird. :confused3

If men had uteruses and gave birth, they'd get picked on too.

Regarding motherhood making you a more complete, mature, better person, that really makes me laugh.

Um, yeah..I see it worked out really well for Andrea Yates, Susan Smith, Diane Downs, and thousands of other mothers who abuse, neglect and even kill their own children.

Anyone see the new show Justice? A character said to the main character "Raising kids is hard"...he replied "I know. That's why I didn't have any."

It is the mark of a truly mature and complete human being to be able to make their own choices about what is best for them without taking on societal pressure. I have great admiration for those who have chosen to parent, but I knew in my heart from a young age that it was NOT the best choice for me. I also knew when I made it that I was resigning myself to a life outside the mainstream and all that goes with it. If more people were truly making choices for themselves and what they know they are capable of, we would have fewer abused and neglected children.

Yes!! I did catch that line! :thumbsup2

I saw that too! I knew I was going to like that show right then!! He's a man after my own heart.

(((big hugs))) I know how you feel. Been there/done that as the saying goes. Sorry you've had 2 bad days in a row. Hopefully things will get better from now on.

DH & I just got back from a wonderful WDW vacation. I tell you, whenever we go to Disney, I come back more appreciative that we don't have any kids. I couldn't handle it :rotfl: ! We love our childfree lifestyle. We can do what we want, whenver we want with no screaming whiny kids in the background. A lot of the parents looked so tired & exhausted. I felt bad for them. One thing we did notice, was more adult couples at Disney this time. Probably because most kids just started school. Anyways, we had a blast. I didn't want to come home!!!
