Anyone know where the majority of the cheer leading groups stay? Heard they are holding the competition in Feb., and we are coming Feb. 6-14th. Worried about resort crowds/overwhelming the food court, buses, etc....... We plan to stay at PORiverside.

I used to coach cheer and do Nationals in WDW....loved it...but knew how much people hated our groups! LOL

It used to be the value resorts....not sure if it's different now.

some groups were with us in Feb 2011 at AS movies. We were expecting the worst but it really wasn't bad at all. We didn't eat much at ASM or spend time near the pool so maybe we "avoided" them.

They get a choice of one value and one moderate with a spillover to another resort as needed. You don't know exactly which one until they announce the competition, who is attending and what choice they get.

The only guarantee is to be in a deluxe; those families are few and far between, usually go to Disney often and know what is available at that level and are able to afford it or know about discounts.

Does anyone know when the cheer competition is being held and they'll be in WDW?

Thanks for the replies. We were at POR for spring break this year and had to contend with senior trips. The buses were packed like sardines in a can! It wasn't noisy or anything, surprisingly, just crowded. Of course, everything was crowded, due to the time of year, but that is why we chose Feb. this time:) When they do release the competition info., where will I be able to find it?

So I googled Orlando cheerleading competition and it brought me to the uca site and I found out the competition is Feb. 9-10. They are staying at an unspecified all star resort and CBR. Sorry for anyone staying at CBR, but this is good news for us!

Thank you so much for this info!! I was super worried myself, because it seems like they are going right in the middle of my trip. I am going to stay at POP or POFQ, was gonna stay at ASMo but not dealing with that.

I will just throw this out. I have been at CBR 3x with the cheerleaders and have never had any problems.

Thank you Jenny for sharing your experience. Good to know it doesnt neccessarily have to be an issue. But It would be just our luck that we would try to go to meals and get on the buses at the exact same times as the groups:( Glad we will be able to avoid the risk. It's not so much the amount of people, but the fact that they move about in their large groups.

We're doing a WDW trip with my girls' cheerleading team for the Capital One Bowl.

Never went before, but youtube from last year's game shows the whole FB field lined up with cheerleaders. :cheer2:

The package has us staying at ASSp from Dec 29th-Jan 2.

They give the option to add on days at the beginning/end of the trip as well.

Just so you know there are MANY cheer competition in WDW, there is HS Nationals, All Star Nationals and Worlds. If you look at the World of Sports events schedule you can see what events are being held when. Typically ASSports, Movies & Music are the values used and spillover into CBR.
