Have recently discovered that the week my family will be in "the world" (3/15-3/22) is also when there will be thousands of junior and senior high cheerleaders for a championsip competition at Wide World. I'm not sure how this will affect our trip (a lot more crowded? resort pools packed? loud at night?) Does anyone have any experience with this situation and how did it affect your trip? We are staying at CBR, I've heard that they mainly stay there or All Star Resorts. Is this true? Any info. will be appreciated.
Plane leaves in 6 days, bring it on Mickey!

From my understanding as a "Cheerleader Mom" they mainly stay at the AllStars and a few will stay at the Moderates. WE will be competing at IOA on March 29 and 30!!

Good luck and hope you have an enjoyable time regardless of the reports of obnoxious cheerleaders!!

I think the school groups do usually go for All Stars, but I was at PO-Riverside once with some cheerleading and football teams. Other than the food courts being crowded, I really didn't notice them enough. CBR is spread out enough that hopefully if they are there, you wont notice them too much.

Have a great trip!

I was there Feb 6 to 9 when the cheerleader championships were held at MGM. We stayed at POFQ, didn't notice them there. We saw them in small groups around the parks (mainly MGM) but it didn't make a big difference.

I was a little scared of the cheerleaders myself and switched to CBR from ASMo. When I spoke to CRO they told me that they do do overflow to the mods but that at CBR they try to put them all in the same villiage. You can always request another villiage if it gets too loud. I like cheerleaders, they have spunk!:bounce: Unfortunately I also have a DS12 who recently "discovered" that he doesn't HATE girls, thought it might save my sanity if we weren't surrounded by them!!!

We were there from 2/4-2/13 for our honeymoon and were worried about the cheerleaders. When all was said and done it wasn't bad at all. We stayed at POR and there were a few in the pool late at night when we were there and a lot in the food court in the morning, but other than that no problems. The parks weren't super crowded and the only problem we had with them was in line for TOT when they decided it would be fun to play with my Minnie wedding headband veil....

As a cheer mom that is going to be at Disney next week I have the info. as to which hotels were offered to the gyms. We were given the choice of All-Stars and CBR. We chose CBR but it was already booked so they moved our squad over to POR-Riverside. I hope this info helps.

Hey Lisa,

Good luck to your DD next weekend cheering. We have had an exciting year ourselves. 4th place in Dallas!!! 1st at all the local competitions and we are hoping for 1st in IOA.

Sorry to change this thread!!

When we were there a few weeks ago. We stayed off site. However, at the beginning of our trip we ran into some groups of "left-over" cheerleaders in the parks. They all appeared to be in their later teens. They were all respectable and like anyone else at the park. HOWEVER, at the end of the week the "twirlers" began to show up for their competition. Most groups of them appeared to be 13-15. They were obnoxious and rude. They were talking trashy, dropping obscenities every third word, they were dancing very inappropriately in the lines. There were 4 groups of about 10 girls always around. They needed adult supervision. At fantastmic, one group got up on the benches and acted like they were doing a pretend strip tease, I was appalled. The CM asked them to sit. This was after they were being loud and obnoxious, they should of been asked to leave. People sitting around them did. I honestly think it's the age group, they are still young enough to be really immature.

Hi -

My daughter competed in the nationals a few years ago. Believe me, it is such a rigorous activity between the long practices and the long competition and doing the d**n hair (hair spray, curl, hair spray, curl over and over and over!!!) that they do not have a lot of time to be in anyone's way. We were at AS Sports and if memory serves me, the only ones I ever heard were some young ones practicing one day on the fake football field. They couldn't have been more than 8 or 9 but boy could they belt it out!!! As far as chaperoning, I think we had at least a one to one ratio...after a long year of driving your kid all over for competitions (for us, in ice and snow), you feel you deserve to go to WDW too!!!!

Are the groups housed in one area of the resort or are they spread out?

When you check in, will the CM tell you if your is near a large group?

We were there a couple of weeks back staying at the ASMu. There were masses of cheerleaders there, but they were all well behaved and posed no problems whatsoever. I guess it's like everything in life good and bad. Some groups will be well supervised and respectful, and others less so.

We were there either last month or the one before that and there were cheerleaders at our hotel. They were out at 10 at night doing cheers at the top of their lungs (It was a group of abot 5 or 6). They shut up real fast when a mom came out and yelled at them. That was the only problem we had other than crowded food courts.

Is your daughter on East Elite?
They're a great organization. We were also in Dallas. My daughter cheers for NJ Spirit Explosion. Three of our squads are going to Orlando next week, but my daughter's team (Sr. Int.) will be competing in Tampa the weekend of 3/21.

Best of luck to your organization.

Yes plutolver my DD cheers for East Elite. And yes, they are a great organization. The owners and coaches truly care about all of the girls and their families. We saw NJ Spirit Explosion. I think we may have competed against you at World Cup in February. I do remember they were good.

Good luck to your DD. We compete at IOA on March 29 and 30 and are staying at Hard Rock. I can't wait.........should be fun!
