Grim, you are right, there is a lot of whining and complaining about Disney all over the place. Coming from my position as a travel agent, I wonder why some people bother to travel at all. My aunt is like that. I can plan the most perfect trip for her, and she'll find something wrong with it. I think the biggest complaint from her is not enough time to shop. :sad2: There are so many better things to do than spend a vacation in a gift shop. As for Disney, people either love it, hate it or deal with it when necessary.

GD, that was funny about your car! I have on occasion tried to get into the wrong car, but fortunately it usually involves me pusing the unlock button on the key fob and nothing happening. Eventually I realize that there is no Larry Boy hanging from that car's rear view mirror or Tinkerbell antenna ball and I'd best move on. When I bought my car there didn't seem to be too many red Ford Escapes, but now they are everywhere. Congrats on the new car and getting to keep yours! :thumbsup2

Oh Larry Boy, we need you now,
to show the way to save the day, to save the town
And from the cave, the tires squeal,
And to the rescue comes the cucumber of steel

Oh Larry boy we need you here
won't you come and lend your super-suction ear
Larry Boy, you're dynamite,
Fighting what is wrong and standing up for what is right...

Cause what the world needs now is a hero
One who's kind and true and brave and bold
If you haven't guessed yet then it's time you know
He is the hero,

Oh Larry boy, You are the one
You'll always fight you'll never hide you'll never run
You got no arms You got no hair
But you'll come running if there's evil in the air
Oh Larry Boy, we need you here
Won't you lend your super-suction ear
Oh Larry Boy you're dynamite
Fighting what is wrong and standing up for what is right

Cause what the world needs now is a hero
One who's kind and true and brave and bold
If you haven't guessed yet
Then it's time you know

I am quite impressed. :worship:

I'm really enjoying hearing all of your car and van stories.

I have a Nissan Armanda which I love but I can no longer use my Disney antenna balls. :sad1: The antenna is somehow in the window. I did so love changing my Mickey with every season. Before the Armanda I had a Dodge Grand Caravan (which I had for seven years). Loved that van and had lots of memorable vacations in that one. The AC went out on her so we had to say good-bye.

ETD~I forgot to say good morning.

Good morning! I'm so tired. We had quite a night last night. Around 11:30 I was reading in bed when I heard a boom. It sounded like thunder but heck it's California in August. I then decided it was a sonic boom since Vandenburg AFB is nearby. I went into the bathroom where I keep a window open and I saw lightening and heard the rain! This went on all night and is still continuing. We've lost power twice, it alternates between sun and rain and the sky is still flashing. It's crazy! I was up most of the night because it was so loud. Definitely unusual for these parts and it's all anyone is talking about. Storm Watch 2007! To top it all off, we are still expecting a high in the 90's. :sad2:

Hope you all have a good one!

We had a pretty good storm last night - first rain in August. Lightning actually knocked out our high-def DVR, and I had to reboot the thing. I then immediately went to Walmart and bought a UPS battery for it. That way, if anything is recording during a storm, at least it will continue to record if we lose power in the rest of the house.

You should have seen the storm that hit me in March. It required a new skylight, all new siding on the house, roof repairs, new porch pillars, etc. I could hear the tornado going overhead, though it was straight-line winds that actually hit my house. I could also feel the suction of the storm pulling air up from my basement, through the first floor, then out the attic in the second floor. All the attic entrance cut-outs in our ceilings were sucked off their moorings. Very, very scary. Repairs weren't done to my house until mid-June. You don't want to know what the insurance claim amount was. I was watching House during that storm. Of course power went out and I never got to see the end of the show. That was kind of a low priority for a while, though. ;)

Well, I think that watching House is a high priority but considering your house was blowing away, I suppose it was lowered a bit. I've been through a few big storms, blowing down the fence, knocking over a HUGE tree, blowing the roof of the shed, but they are few and far between. This storm wasn't about wind but it was about noise. Also, the lightening was a bad thing because we are so dry, it started a few fires but nothing too bad. It's just unusual for us.

Well, I'm looking forward to our upcoming WL vacation during our Fall Break in early October.

However, these little Fall Break trips have been something we've been doing for a long time now, even before Fall Break existed in Kentucky schools. It was great to drive/fly down there and have a total escape from reality and, frankly, from a lot of people we know.

This year, though, it seems I'm finding out about some other families we know who are going down there. It seems to be happening about once a week that we find someone else we know who's going at the same time. There is even one family we know who had booked at WL! Fortunately, they decided to stay offsite. But it seems like my entire hometown is going there during Fall Break this year.

I just know we are going to be at the parks, and maybe even at WL itself, and will be seeing people we know all over the place, and thus having to go talk to them and make small talk. I really dread that. It makes WDW that much less an escape for me. Nothing against these other people, but I really want to escape into anonymity while at WDW. I just hope people don't ask us to go have lunch/dinner/etc. with them when we bump into them. At least I should be able to respond that we've got ADR's up to our ears.

I know it sounds grumpy, but I'm bummed about it.

I dont think it sounds grumpy Grim. I understand. There was a period of time when we vacationed here where I live now. My aunt and uncle moved over and everytime we came for a vacation we ended up having to spend a lot of time with family members. When you only have a weekend at the beach, you don't want to hang at your aunt and uncles house. Of course now that I live here, I try to be sensitive to friends who are here for a vacation. I always let them know that if they want to have dinner or get together they could call, but if they just wanted to hang out at the beach that was fine too.

Hi all. It's been a long day, so I'm heading off to bed. Hope everyone has a great Friday and holiday weekend.

Good Morning folks. Happy Friday to ya.

Any big Labor Day plans? I'm not sure what we are doing Monday but tomorrow we have a family reunion to go to. I can't say I'm looking forward to that. :guilty: It's one of those things that we're going to make my Dad happy.

Good Morning. No major plans for this weekend except work for the next 5 days :sad1: . But then I have a 4 day weekend next week :yay: . I need to put a pot of coffee on to perk myself up. That's my main goal for this morning. ;)

Good Morning. Not much going on this weekend. It's the last of the big tourist weekends until Veterans Day. Basically I have to avoid the tourist areas, which means no beaches or the areas surrounding it. I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done but I don't know if that's going to happen. Tomorrow is my parents anniversary and we are having dinner tomorrow night and I have to come up with some kind of dessert. They don't seem to be giving me any ideas so I guess I have to be creative on my own. :sad2:

My biggest plans for the weekend are to:

a) celebrate my youngest daughter Sydney's 4th birthday today! Yay! She's insufferably cute, and I hope 4 is as cute for her as 3 has been.
b) go to Chuck E Cheese tomorrow for Sydney. Not so yay. I despise Chuck E Cheese with every fiber of my being. It's one rat I'm really not into. But Sydney wants it, so we're doing it.
c) try to get at least one more trip in to our local waterpark this weekend.
d) work some more on planning for my high school class' 20th reunion, set for October.

Well Happy Birthday to Sydney! :yay: As for Chuck E Cheese, I've been there and done that with my cousin and am fortunate that at this point my neice is afraid of him. :thumbsup2

:lmao:

When I was a child, we didn't have Chuck, we had a place called Showtime Pizza that was then later turned into Chuck E Cheese. There was a bear type thing that hosted Showtime and when I had my party there he came and put his hands on my shoulder while I was eating and I freaked out. Nothing worse than big hairy paws on you when you don't expect it.

Oh Susan, desserts are my favorite things to make. Are you looking to make a cake or something more like a triffle? Are you making it or just picking up something?

The ressie confirmation we got when we booked Chuck E Cheese last month said that, among other things, we'd get a dance from Chuck E Cheese himself. The thought of this disturbs me. What kind of dance? I hope it doesn't involve a pole on a stage and small tables for lap dances. If so, I am SOOOO out of there. :(

I really don't know! I hope it's not terribly difficult though. I am not that talented. :rolleyes1 A triffle actually would be easier as I wouldn't feel the pressure to decorate, like I would a cake. I wonder if I can find a lemon triffle recipe. . .

:rotfl2: The image that just went through my mind will haunt me for a long time. . .

:lmao: Maybe it's the chicken dance.
